The 07 season was the wildest in CFB history

It is a back door 2 loss championship, but also something of a feather in a cap to say a team won the title in the craziest season ever

So their all american running back had 6 pass attempts and you don’t find that to be unusual, innovative, creative? He never had more than 1 all year. Arkansas used the wildcat as a wrinkle all year. For LSU it was their game plan Like i said, they had the backs, their line was bigger and they came in with a one of a kind gameplan. LSU’s line got whipped. Their LBs gave up plays overpursuing and then got flat footed as the game went on. It had nothing to do with game plan or scheme on pelini’s part

He was 3/6 for 34 yards. That was a wrinkle, but hardly an innovative offensive scheme. On the other hand they rushed for 385 yards on 53 carries. They ran the ball more than twice as much as they threw it. That’s what won the game, not the wildcat.

On top of that, the wildcat had been around for 10 years+. It was as innovative as the forward pass.

I’m not even going to read the responses just going to say that defense was unbelievable.

I don’t know why people hate this take. LSU’s defense was very inconsistent that year and rarely shut teams down. Opponents averaged 20 points per game and that was with a balanced offense that controlled the clock most games. The two losses were squarely on the defense.

Why people look back on that 07 team and think that it was the best defense ever is beyond me.

3/6 and a touchdown

All of his touchdowns came out of the wildcat. Hillis’ touchdown came out of wildcat. Hillis was their leading receiver. It was a very ingenious game plan

I agree that defense was overrated. I just find it unfathomable that anyone would say arkansas’ game plan wasn’t creative or innovative.

Pellini and Jimbo won us a NC, After that Miles began his first of many disastrous coord hires. Remember the very next year of MalVeto? Lasted all of one year. What have those guys accomplished since? Their horrible use of LSU talent caused the clusterfrick of Miles' chokehold on the offense for years to come.

Because he tried to force Freshman Lee to play like Russell and Flynn, in order to keep up with the pts allowed by MalVeto. After that year, Miles was forever GUNSHY. Forever!

Not sure about OP, but I don’t give a shite how we win a NC as long as we do. I got just as much enjoyment out of the 07 championship as this 2019 one. Every championship team needs luck on their side, every single one

LSU should have never been in the title game that year.
well we were, and we fricking won it, so obviously Ohio state shouldn’t have been there either. So you think the championship game should have been 3 vs 4?

Yes, Crowton was. He did well his first year THEN every single year after that, his production went down, just as it does everywhere else when other teams have time to figure out his offenses.

This is funny.

I remember you guys screaming about Pelini when Bama would play in the SECCG. Y'all would bitch like hell about not having those defenses you were seeing on tv anymore.
