RB is a much simpler position with a lot less to read
this is true, but lets be honest, he is a 150 soaking wet.... he cant be an every down back, and we are stacked at running back.
QB would be too hard to learn since there are 3 guys with experience (yes its a different OC but you still need to have a bit of experience with the position at this level)
WR is his best chance....

his struggles at WR are way overblown IMO. better QB play, and he becomes more of a weapon. we primarily threw him short passes and JJ's short accuracy is shitty, and that hurts when you're throwing a guy screens. and on pretty much every other pass play he was the 2nd or 3rd option, and our QBs don't really get past the 1st one.

he's probably 185 at worst right now

nobody is saying he should be, esp with ware/ford on board

he's shown little improvement in two years at WR. maybe a new offense helps, but he still has major work
RB/WR is his best bet. he needs a lot more carries. he only ran the ball 32 times last year. that should be more like 100 (and from RB formations, not gimmick shite)

Hey guess who else was awesome in high school.....
JJ and JL
JJ and JL

a new OC makes all the criticism of his play at WR kind of moot
esp since we don't have a real WRs coach
i'm curious how he's used as a receiver

Think about it, Its hard enough learning to Play WR now throw in a not very consistent accurate QB it makes it that much harder.

I really believe this to be true. The way JJ takes so long to release the ball, the bubble screen and short out patters, etc just never seem to have a chance to develop for RS, and that is assuming the ball is thrown in the correct spot. RS will get his chance to shine much more next year.

Most uninformed group of posters probably ever, Shepard can throw the ball and run the ball, go look up his high school highlight tapes on you tube, there's 5 mins of him scrambling for huge gains, and another 5 mins of him throwing precision routes, with passes over 50 yards in the air and short yard plays. To say he is not talented enough to play qb is rediculous, his problems are obviously with the former OC or handling the playbook.

ok let me rephrase
since we have an unproven WRs coach
he coached WRs on an option team, so color me unimpressed with his resume

Dude like said before. High School doesn't mean shite. Jarrett Lee was Mr. Texas Football. Jefferson won the Louisiana 5-A State Championship. How have they done in the SEC?

I'm expecting major improvement from Shep this year. He knows he's got to catch the ball with Jarvis Landry coming in.

We are uninformed? you are watching highlights of his 4 years in HS...yeah its easy to come up with 5 in videos....we know he can scramble...if you saw most his games in HS you would know he was more of a run threat then a pass threat....80% of his games he would only throw a avg of 15-20 passes...
08-09 he threw for 18 passes and ran for 29 of them..his rushing yards were always more than his passing....look at his release to..its not a quick release
He is not talented enough to play QB at this level but I guess you would know better than any college staff in the nation right

You know that's against HS talent. The closest thing we saw of him playing qb against college lvl talent was in the hs under armor game and his throwing was not to impressive. There are to many good receivers that would be under utilized at LSU.
I think RS is very very talented but hes not going to be some vince young or cam newton heisman caliber qb. He is a situational player at best

He could possibly be a QB in the big east, conference usa if he was developed from the start but a fast scrambling QB isnt going to work here in the SEC when the defenses are just as fast and hit twice as hard...especially with his size

Quite whining. RS ASKED to be moved to WR because he was having a hard time at qb. It just wasn't working out. You can be a total freak in high school, but it does not mean you have what it takes to be a major college qb.
He played quite a bit last year. Yeah, I agree they need to figure out a way to get him more touches, but even when he got chances this year, it really did not show him to be all that special.
I think in the end, things will work out for him. He is still young and learning things.
a voice of reason and sensibility. seems some here are much better at coaching big time college football than our present staff. they basically are accusing miles of being stupid and playing the guys they like instead of the guys that would give us the best chance of winning. personally, i'd like to see RS be very successful at college football; it that doesn't happen, he's a fine young man with some smarts and leadership ability and i think he'll be very successful in his field of endeavor.

Its like Spencer ware..he was a stud at QB in high school and we sure as hell are not going to put him at the QB posistion.

Even though he actually does have a passing TD for LSU, lol
