Les to Colorado would be a disaster for us.....

Look at our history of hiring coaches...
(1) Stovall, fired for 1 loosing season and 2 in the past three years.
(2) Arnsparger, left for Florida, AD
(3) Archer, fired for 1 loosing season and 2 in the past three years.
(4) Curly.....enough said.
(5) DiNardo.....consecutive loosing seasons...
(6) Saban....NC,NFL,Alabama,NC.
Apart from Saban and Arnsparger, who has succeeded in Baton Rouge...
we are 2-4 in hiring a good coach. Most of our hires have been a disaster.
At least we fired stovall and archer for two loosing seasons...
Miles is 7-1 following 9-4, 8-5, 12-2(NC), 11-2,11-2 seasons.
Now do you really want to run away a coach who wins 78% of his games, recruits a top 5 class year in year out and keeps his players out of trouble and in the class room?
Who would want to come here?
-- What makes you think Gruden recruit?
-- Lets be mature on Saban
-- It is easier to look like a genius, beat substandard competition, win conference championships and go to BCS bowl games at Boise State and TCU. They do not play Alabama, Florida, Auburn, in the group of death SEC West and the monster SEC schedule year in year out. Not to mention delusional trigger happy fan base. (see Dan Hawkins)
Who would you get to replace Miles?
(1) Stovall, fired for 1 loosing season and 2 in the past three years.

he knows football makes the big bucks.
have faith, if it were called for, joe is the right man for the job (it wont happen though miles is our coach)

Has anyone ever though we could end up with a worse coach that Miles....someone who (1) can not coach (2) can not recruit and (3) can not keep his players under control.
That would put the program in the crapper.
See Archer => Curly.

Please enough with this Gruden BS. Why do people talk as if this is a possibility? Gruden will NEVER BE THE COACH OF LSU. NOT NOW NOT EVER.

I like Jon Gruden.
I think he's a fine coach.
He started his coaching career in the SEC.
But in most cases, NFL coaches have failed miserably in college (Bill Callahan, Chan Gailey).
Pete Carroll seems to be the exception, not the rule.
Also, Gruden is more fickle with his QBs than Steve Spurrier.
The fit just doesn't make sense.

Hoke.
Anyhow, I don't know why you people keep starting these threads. Miles isn't going anywhere.

It's always grass is always greener on the other side.
90% of programs who don't analyze Les' every move would be thrilled to have a coach who has experienced his success.
Most of the guys our fans covet, they know very little about other than "Look what he did at X school." But if you asked the fans of that school, they probably hate the guy.
I know Florida fans that already hate Meyer for this season.
Bama fans despised Saban after year one, and probably will again if they lose 2 or 3 games this year.
Many Texas fans hate Mack.
Many OU fans hate Stoops.
Many OSU fans hate Tressel.

THIS.
Colorado would be regressing. HUGELY. The only chance Miles has of leaving here is to Michigan, where they can pay, and recruit talent based on tradition.
Its still a step in the wrong direction to leave talent rich LA, so i dont see it.
cant see it. And he wotn get fired, so give that up.

Let me preface by saying that I'm not advocating firing Miles, but I do disagree with the notion that Miles cannot be replaced by a good candidate. Keeping him around because you fear not finding a qualified replacement isn't justifiable.
This is an example of past success or lack of, not being a good predictor of future outcome. Because your success rate is less than average doesn't mean that you stop striving to improve or that you don't make a move you feel is necessary because it didn't work well in the past. The circumstances have changed since the Archer/Hallman/DiNardo years. Our last two hires have proven that you can have tremendous success at LSU.
But if you want to use history to make the point, then it could be argued just as convincingly that over the last ten years LSU has made very good coaching hires and that we are 2 for 2.
