Sadly, there are some that hate the guy so much that they will not give him an ounce of credit.

Yet when they do, you say they are just covering their bases and don't really believe them. It sounds like you just need something to bitch about.

He just got a huge deal but when he got to the NFL, they were shocked at how little technique he knew. He was basically just thriving on natural talent, no coavhing.
We'll never know, but chief was as bad of a coach as college has seen in a long time...hes really that bad

then the following guys were identified by Miles as head coach since he was head coach at the beginning of the recruiting cycle in the 2016 season:

You give Miles credit for making the Orgeron DL coach hire absolutely but the 2016 and 2017 teams, specifically the veteran front 7 players on defense, were mostly Chavis/Brick/Steele developed players/recruits and the lack of depth and development was under Miles tenure as HC.

I think the perceived "rebuild" is over defensively. Other than maybe the CB position (the Fulton situation sucks) LSU's defense is as stacked as it's been since the 2012 season and barring injuries, which happens to every team, LSU looks to have sowed up depth across the board for the foreseeable future.

I know this isn't breaking news but most of us agree the 2018 defense is loaded. I'm pumped to see them perform.

I think the point is simply that if, for argument's sake, Coach O was fired 4 games into the '18 season, he would still deserve a lot of credit if this class stayed together for the '19 recruiting cycle. The same goes for Miles in the '17 class. Again, I'm not saying one deserves more credit than the other. I love that class. I think they both did a hell of a job.

I hear ya. It's almost as if people think O has strengths and weaknesses. As if he has done things well and not so well. It's amazing that someone would think he's a human being.

I still have my reservations about O, despite some thinking I'm an O lover. However, I'd have to be pretty damn stupid and gullible to think posters that have ruthlessly bashed O and his coaching abilities for many months, how he is destroying the program etc...SUDDENLY think this team is going to be incredible...after calling for 6-6 not long ago. Sorry, not buying. I love the "no excuses" motto...dead giveaway to the agenda.

This here is a very good post. It is honestly how most of us so called positigers think. The direction certainly appears to be up, but let's see how it plays out. Sadly, there are some that hate the guy so much that they will not give him an ounce of credit.

Funny, I’ve seen you say you dislike Orgeron, but you’re a positive fan, same as everyone you call out.
Everyone you call out has given praise for the recent recruiting efforts in other threads, but you ignore those post and consistently say they don’t give credit.
Do some research on post history before you rabble about nonsense.
Being dumb is a bad look.

So with this timeline you're accepting Orgeron's involvement in the famous decline in D depth for 2017?

So if you look at the 2014 and 2015 DL classes, only two players from those classes were on the 2017 roster, Key and Clark. Just think about that for a second, only two DL from 2014 and 2015 recruiting classes made it to their junior and senior seasons (Godchaux was drafted by Dolphins so he gets a pass here).

Valentine
Teuhema
Trey LMFAO
I. Washington

All these players didn't even make it to 2017 at LSU. It was a severe clusterfrick of mismanagement with regards to the DL hauls in 2014/2015. These are the two years where it is most evident how badly Les/Chavis/Brick/Steele let the defensive quality drop.

Thankfully Aranda/Raymond/Orgeron have done a nice job of recruiting/development to get LSU back where they need to be.

I can only speak for myself and say that I think LSU has the talent and I'm not going to say the coaching staff can't or won't be successful. My view hasn't changed that I think ultimately I don't think Orgeron is the man for the job and that I believe eventually he will fail. But, as the season gets closer, I prefer to focus on the things that I think he has done well this off-season. You can bookmark this and call me what you want if he does succeed. It would be completely worth it. I want LSU to win and could care less who is head coach while doing so.

it's really eye opening how far the program slipped during Miles' final years

Gee, lets see:

1) There are those of us that tried to tell you sunshine pumpers this. So heres my "told ya so"

2) The program is getting worse under O. Miles would have never been gashed by Moo St, and WOULD NEVER have lost to Troy (see 2008)

So good luck with all that. but I already have another 'told ya so' ready

You have nearly 400 posts in a week all defending O. You better make sure they pay you overtime this week

Now, on to addressing the OP; I think most of the negas here have calmed down a bit in the last couple of weeks as far as bashing O. I like what I’m seeing on the recruiting side and I’ll wait to see how things go this year. What’s pissing everyone of is the constant need for the Pro O crowd to justify and excuse a bad season and TROY as well as build up excuses already for the upcoming season.

Miles’ had plenty of talent all over this football team. He underperformed. Last year, Orgeron had plenty of talent all over this football team. He underperformed. Just stop with the pre-excuses for the upcoming season. If we go 14-0 with a Natty then y’all can talk all the shite you want. If we go 9-3 or worse and get beat by a sun belt/blown out by State; then heads need to roll.

Meh. You can check my post history if you think it's that crucial.

Believe me I could pump sunshine with the best of them if I wanted to. I stay objective and stick with facts when I post. I love TD, used to be on Rivals for years but I enjoy this place so much more so I got tired of spending money for "inside info" when everything is made public so much faster than it used to.

How you gathered all that from my post about how Les let the defensive front seven go to shite is honestly astonishing.

I'll go on record saying I agree with most of what you said regarding the upcoming season. But seriously, you insinuated that I said a lot of things that I didn't even COME CLOSE to saying. Again, if you really think it's that crucial, feel free to check my post history. I don't troll, homie.

Gut feeling right now is 10-2, losses against Auburn and Bama. Georgia will be a tough game but I favor LSU as of now. Against Miami I think LSU cruises. Basically, losses to anyone other than Bama, Auburn, and Georgia I would be pretty disappointed.

Yea, we’ll rebuild is the exact and appropriate word for it. 60% of the DL listed above as recruited by Les in his last 3- 4 years never played a down or left the program. Most were recruited late in the cycle after Les whiffed on the players he was initially recruiting. The talent at defense under Les miles and the team for that matter was decimated under mikes regime the last 4 years, and anyone with eyes could see that. That’s what O inherited like it or not baws

He wants to have it both ways. He wants to be the only one that can say that he didn't like the O hire but thinks he's done some things well and should win 10 games.
