I think Saban regretted that he left the LSU team for the NFL, and he wanted to be back in the SEC where competitive teams play. He chose Bama because Bama has the all-time winningest record in the SEC. Think so?
Some of you may hate him because you hate us playing against him every fricking year. Right?

Wait until this fall. You will see a major turnaround in LSU. The QB situation is much better although there will likely still be some flux in the situation until we settle on the best way to use the talent. In my opinion, the defense was the biggest failure for LSU last year. They cost us more losses than did JL. Miles took care of that by cleaning house and hiring maybe the best group of defensive coaches in America.
On the other hand, Alabama was way overrated last year. They won a few big ones, but were lucky to win as much as they did. Even with Lee's interceptions, LSU played them to a standstill and Utah crushed them in the Sugar Bowl after Florida took them down in the SEC Championship. This year they will also be dealing with a new QB. We saw last year what that position can mean to a team.
LSU 10-2, Alabama 8-4 in 2009. On caveat - Alabama has the weakest schedule in the SEC. The chicken suckers don't play either Florida or Georgia.

Now you blame JL for our losses? Wrong, the head coach is the one that decides who the starting QB is.

Taking off your P&G glasses, people would say Nick Saban is better than Les Miles. Nick Saban came to Baton Rouge when LSU was a mediocre program in the nation, and he has turned the program around in just three years. However, Les Miles inherited Nick Saban's team and had the team going at 8-5 record last year (downhill).
At Bama, Nick Saban is god because he turned the program around in just two years, beating Les Miles and his LSU team - a defending NC- at their house. I know many of you will think this is Germans, but this is the truth. LSU's records would have been better if we still had Saban here. Thanks.
Your opinions are welcome !
In a way I agree with this, but not for the same reasons. Miles made little mistakes throughout his first 3 years at LSU. This year they all just finally appeared and resulted in an 8-5 season. SO if Saban were still here(im glad hes not) things wouldve been different and we couldve possibly had a better record. HOwever we will never know and things are how they are so just accept them. I mean we are in the top 10 preseason poll going into this season, have a great new defensive staff, a great knew recruiting class, and a team that thinks they have something to prove. I mean why keep going back to one down year out of four, instead of looking at the good of the past and the excitment about this coming season.

This thread is funnier than visions of Larry the Cable Guy meeting Queen Elizabeth.

No, he chose Bama because it was the best program open at the time.

Don't hate him at all. I do think this is a stupid thread since its been hashed out about 1,000 different times over.
Bama can have him. I'll take Miles.

I do not believe Les Miles could have turned our program around as quickly, and in such a dominating fashion, as Saban did. Having said that, I also do not believe Saban would have been more successful than Miles in the time that Miles has been here.
Last year, Miles gave his loyal staff members a shot at a promotion, when they failed, he replaced them with what appear to be quality replacements. He was also screwed on offense with the qb situation.
Overall, while this could be (and has been) debated at great length I believe given the current state of the program, that Miles is a better fit than Saban. He has proven it with quality of staff, recruiting, character, loyalty, wins, and hardware.

Well.....your boy did a piss poor job in 2004 deciding - or not deciding - who the starting QB should be. Just sayin.

WOW, well since you put absolutely no facts to base your statement on here are a few for you - Les Miles is 14-6 in games decided by 7 points or fewer. The next best coach to that mark is Mack Brown. Les Miles is 19-0 in non-conference games. That includes wins against Virginia Tech, Miami, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Georgia Tech, Arizona State and Arizona. He hasn't even been contested in a bowl game, and the teams he played in those games weren't terrible. he is 44-12 as a head coach at LSU. he has been to 2 SECCG won 1, won a NC and had 3 seasons in a row where he won at least 10 games. I know you think he did it all with Saban recruits, but someone had to coach them. ANd they weren't playing against ULM every week. If you think Saban is a good coach, fine, he is a good coach. But i am really sick of this argument that says that Miles hasn't done anything yet. He won 44 games. He was the coach of those games not Saban

And what was Saban's record here his last season?
Continuing in this thought process are you implying that Miles ressurrected this team after Saban led it downhill in his last season?
as most have said Miles is the better fit for team now. So whose alter are you?
