Les Miles to take the same path as Coker, Fulmer & Bowden

Win a NC then bring their team down to mediocracy and force the school to find a coach that can hopefully rebuild the program.

Who would ever want to take the same path as Bowden? Those 14 straight yrs of top 5 finishes must have sucked.

How was Tennessee mediocre? Kiffin did pretty well with talent left by Fulmer. Check Fulmer's record at UT.Bobby Bowden finished in Top 5 for 14 consecutive years!
When you played, did ya'll win title every year?
Awaiting your response!

You are.
But as a jackass LSU fan I guess you would have fired Bowden for just finishing in the top 5 instead of winning every game every year.

You're comparing four completely different things. Swing and a miss.

Bowden? One could only hope to achieve what Bowden has in his career at Florida St.

Actuallly Miles reminds me of Bowden only in the fact that Miles is also a Manager and not a hands on coach....like Bowden the last dozen years.
Miles will never win another NC without great assistants to do the coaching same as Bowden.

Check Fulmer's record at UT.
Good idea:
They were an elite team in the 90's. from 95-97 they lost a total 5 games, 3 to Florida and 1 to Nebraska in the Orange Bowl. That's 2 losses to teams that won the NC and another to UF when they lost the NC game to NU. They did win the SEC in 97 and again in 98 when they also went undefeated and won the BCS CG. In 99 then went 9-2 and went to the Fiesta Bowl, but lost to Nebraska, they haven't been to a BCS bowl since. In 2001 they upset Florida and would have gone to the BCS CG if they had not lost to LSU in the SEC CG.
So 1 NC, 2 SEC C, 5 trips to SEC CG, 3 BCS Bowls from 95-08.
Here's their record:
95:11-1 Citrus Bowl (now Cap 1 Bowl)
96 10-2 Citrus
97 11-2 SEC Champs
98 13-0 National Champs, SEC Champs
99 9-3 Fiesta Bowl
00 8-4 Cotton
01 11-2 SEC CG, Fla Cit (Blew NC shot)
02 8-5 Peach
03 10-3 Peach
04 10-3 SEC CG, Cotton
05 5-6
06 9-4
07 10-4 SEC CG, Outback
08 5-7 Fulmer fired
It went noticeably downhill for a DECADE after a 4 year stretch of greatness. Take note those that say if you go 10-2 enough, eventually you will go 11-1 or 12-0

I do indeed think you're wrong. I think many LSU fans ore over-reacting to what has happened since '07. We've had a two-year run of woeful inexperience at the QB position to go along with a rather painful transition to a new defensive coaching staff. Would anyone expect the team to win the SEC under those circumstances?! Remember how frustrating 2004 was? I'm sure some of you were belly-aching about Saban that year and how the team was "regressing." Not coincidentally, that was also a year in which our QB position was relatively unstable. (Marcus Randle and JaMarcus Russell splitting time, and neither one really setting the world on fire.) So last year was an aberration, and this year saw us moving back toward the standards we've all become used to. Remember, we were in the BCS conversation well into the season; we ended up 9-3 (should have been 10-2, but let's not go there); and we're looking at another top 5 recruiting class. Most people would consider that a VERY GOOD year. As long as we are in the conversation for winning the SEC and playing in the BCS in almost any given year, we will be alright. And in those years when talent, experience in key areas, scheduling, and--yes--luck fall our way, we can potentially be on top of the heap again. That's about all you can ask for out of ANY program. As long as Miles continues to recruit as well as he does and shows the willingness to make adjustments in the coaching staff when things aren't working, I don't see any kind of long-term problems.

The fact that you put Bobby Bowden in the same sentence with Larry Coke and Phillip Fulmer shows your knowledge of college football, or lack thereof. I'll take a couple of decades of being in the hunt every season over a few good years every so often after making coaching change after coaching change.

I don't think Phil and Bowden belong in talk. FSU was everybody's rent-a-win til Bobby showed up. Fulmer took UT to the next level.
However Miles = Coker

The comparison to Coker is dead on.
However, Coker finished at Miami with a record of 60-15, .800.
Miles won't touch that.
Unbelievably, it sounds like he is keeping Crowton which will be a huge blow to the morale of this team. They will be forced to prepare for next season knowing that the offense will have the same or worse problems as they did this season. The results will be disastrous.
After LSU finishes at 4-8 or so, the comparison to Coker, will be favorable to Coker.

Cute picture, but I'd be curious to know exactly which points I raised that you disagree with.

This is a joke. All great coaches go through lean years: Bear Bryant went 6-5-1 and 6-5 in the middle of his Hall of Fame run. Woody Hayes, Schembechler, and even Spurrier at Florida at 3 and 4 losses in consecutive seasons. You cant go every year with 1 or 2 losses.
Posted on 12/6/09 at 1:42 pm to will0637
Also, Bowden has 4 and 5 loss seasons in the 80s after he had some great seasons in the early 80s and before FSU went on a unprecented run of top 4 rankings in the late 80s though 2000.
