I'm reading the contract now. You still haven't quoted me the section, page and specific language in the contract to backup your claim. I rest my case with you SouthernMan, you fool.

zook got a job in a bcs conference. schools like souther miss, wyoming, houston, tulsa all pay their coaches around $1 million per year. even IF miles contract went throug 2014, the amount paid of the buyout wouldn't be close to what it say's on paper.

These things are always negotiated anyway.

no doubt about it. if Les goes 8-4 or 7-5 he should be fired imo, alleva just has to have the balls to do it. i'm still using the "wait and see" approach but losing 4+ games per year 3 years in a row (should that happen) is justification for him to get fired. what makes you think it would get any better next year or the year after that...so why wait.

Honestly Rummy, he's a state employee, so someone just needs to file a Freedom of Information act to get this information officially out. It will matter to LSU fans.
The only reason I can think of for LSU NOT to come out and state his contract's current length is they are afraid of the backlash.
If its only through 2012 the fire Miles bandwagon will become extremely strong with losses. If it is actually through 2014, the incompetence of Martin and company would be out front and center granting him it based on beating a FCS team and having a losing SEC record (our first and only in this decade) in 2008.
In the end, it's a state contract whether TAF pays the majority or not and is subject to the FIA. Someone freaking just do it. Come on Doucet (EN 883), just do it.

I spelled out the gist of the Les Miles contract situation in one of the other posts involing Waco "the attorney" Tiger.
The contract not being rolled over has been well documented.
The "presumptive" wording in the contract means that barring other issues the contract would be rolled over with 8 wins. Earlier in this thread the issues as to why it was not rolled over have been illustrated.
Belowpar stated the buyout was around 11 mill, which IT WOULD BE if we bought him out NOW bc he still has part of this year remaining in combination with the 7.5 mil over the next two years.
Bottom line is that the contract is set to end at the end of 2012 unless someone is able to show documentation that definitively shows/states the contract length has been extended/renewed.
But, the end of the world is happening December 2012 anyway, so all of our misery will be coming to an end then I suppose

maybe i'm being harsh, but he's one of the top 5 highest paid coaches in college football. should he go 8-4 that would be 3 years in a row that hes lost an average of 4 game per year.

The March 12, 2008 extension, in Article 3, specifically states:
In exercising the discretion granted in the employment agreement and amendments as to whether to grant a one-year term extension, the Chancellor will be guided by the following:
A. Winning eight or more games in a season presumptively will be the basis for a one-year term extension.
B. A decision by the Chancellor not to grant a one-year term extension for any reason must be concurred in by the President of the LSD System.
Miles did in fact win 8 games in 2008 and 2009 therefore the contract automatically extends one year.
If the Chancellor chose not to grant the extension (<8 games won or he was swayed by reading the rant or whatever) he would have to gain the approval of the President of the LSU System which would be public record.
The very fact that the buyout was increased to 18.75M in the April 24th Board meeting proves that the increase was needed to satisfy the TERMS of the contract.
Given that information and absent any amendments to the contrary, which again would be public record, the contract expires 12/31/2014 and it would cost LSU up to $15M to fire him after this season.
Enjoy the hat, he AINT going ANYWHERE!

This is incorrect the "presumptive" wording is that 8 wins would be the basis for an extension, not that it would "automatically, without a doubt guarantee an extension and there's nothing anything or anyone can do about it." The Chancellor and the President could both decide not to grant an extension even if we were 14-0. All they have to do is concurr. There is no guarantee for an extension. the Chancellor and the President has complete contral and power over whether an extension is granted in any case.
