As a big proponent of both Coach Brown and Coach Miles, take a look at their similarities relating to their time at UT and LSU. It's quite fascinating.

Coach Brown
- Won 1 National Championship (2005 vs. USC)
- Lost 1 National Championship (2009 vs. Alabama)
- Won 2 Big XII Championships (2005, 2009)
- 1 Heisman trophy winner (Running back Ricky Williams)
- Married with 4 children
- Regularly appears on ESPN and College Gameday

Coach Miles
-Won 1 National Championship (2007 vs. Ohio State)
-Lost 1 National Championship (2011 vs. Alabama)
-Won 2 SEC Championships (2007, 2011)
-1 "potential" (hopefully) Heisman trophy winner (Running back Leonard Fournette)
-Married with 4 children
-I have no doubt that Miles will be making frequent Gameday/ESPN appearances

On top of that, both are very fine, upstanding family men.

Quite odd isn't it?

Quite funny how Texas wasn't really known for its defense and vice versa

Texas is a powerhouse program that recruits itself and firing Brown has worked out well for them.

In terms of rankings, that is completely false.

Definitely a bad year following a NC appearance. Pretty reminiscent of LSU's 2008 season (3-5 conference record).

Brown was even a fellow Tiger but guess his stripes wore off about 2010.

In terms of evaluating the talent and not just looking at stars which is a big part of recruiting that is true.

Mack Brown also admitted that his downfall was not being able to find a quarterback during the back end of his time at UT

I still see no way Les bottoms out like Mack did. We're pretty much stacked the next 4 years

1. Johnny Manziel says F U Bevo

2. Every NFL GM agrees. top flight QB = championships (with two or three great defense teams exceptions in 40 years)

Yep the only thing that has saved les is his recruiting and now hopefully this coaching staff he has now sticks together. The "average" years might be a thing of the past starting this year.

Oh, then you're absolutely correct. I believe Brown's last recruiting class was ranked #2. A lot of player got lazy and complacent towards the end of Brown's tenure. Charlie Strong, whether he works out or not, has down a tremendous job "cutting the fat" and getting rid of the lazy, hot heads.

Now, he's finally starting to recruit well. If he doesn't work out, the incoming coach should have a solid roster to work with.

What record keeps Strong safe for another season? I'm kind of surprised he's on the hot seat after what he walked into. I'm assuming 9-4?

If Miles' numbers don't go up this year, I'll be hoping they share another similarity.
