The game was 9-0 in the 4th quarter dude. Lee had proven over his career that he was prone to throw interceptions when under a lot of pressure.
Yeah the offense sucked. But an interception or pick 6 would have been the nail in the coffin.
I agree with your premise, but the game was 15-0 going into the 4th.
The game was 12-0 when the infamous pitch pick happened halfway through the 3rd.

I sure hope Les or some former player answers this question before I die. Something must have happened. I remember seeing some players on the sideline of that game seemingly very subdued and not into the game. And that was in the first half before it got out of hand.
I can answer that, even though I ain’t a former player. Nothing happened. All of y’all think there was some brawl or argument in the locker room but there wasn’t. The team was disappointed they had to play Bama again, the coaches didn’t do a good job of getting them focused, and the team also knew they hadn’t prepared well at all for the game. There wasn’t a blow up or anything like that.

The reason I wish Miles would have put in Lee in the second half is that it would have ended the myth of "we might have won that night if only Lee got in."
This.
I’ve posted this before so I’ll paste it here:
quote:
Kirk Herbstriet said at halftime that the worst thing LSU could do is panic and go away from their game plan. He specifically said some may want to see Jarrett Lee but Alabama feasted on him in Tuscaloosa and Jefferson was the one they needed to hopefully slow down the Alabama rush.
No one else in the country was wondering why we didn’t turn to the guy they still remembered mostly for pick sixes as a freshman.
It wasn’t until the pitch INT and the game was already over that they started showing Lee on the sideline and saying well maybe just put him in because it can’t get any worse down 21-0.
But I know, facts are no fun
The bottom line is, the perspective on 1/9 is all wrong.
Instead of eternally focusing on how we lost that game, the real story should be how the hell did we win on 11/5??
That Alabama team and defense was outstanding, and the job our defense did on the road to completely shut them down was historic and should have gone down as one of the biggest wins in program history.
Because of the sham of The Rematch, it’s a minor footnote, and that really is a shame.

If you're not a former player or coach, then you really don't know if anything happened or not. You are merely speculating just like anyone else.

Great post. Thanks. I can't add or detract from any of it.

Dont forget to wear your tin foil hat while you ponder your conspiracy theories.
Nothing happened, no matter how much you ask and say something did, nothing hapoened.
It would have been leaked long before now, in this day of technology and breaking news nothing stays hidden this long, period.

How many drug tests did TM7 fail before booting him off the team?

I guess it really doesn't matter. I'm just curious about it. The only thing I've ever heard was second-hand from a guy who went to high school with one of the players on that team. Supposedly, this former player told him that "yes, something did occur but it's not what everybody thinks." Rather cryptic, for what it's worth.

Tomorrow, Les Miles is supposed to have an AMA thread on Reddit. I thought the rant would like to know.

Okay. But again, since you admitted to not being a former player or coach who was there, you really don't know, same as me. Your merely stating your opinion as fact doesn't necessarily make it so.

Complete and unrepentant illogic. It was obvious by half-time that JJ could not win the game. Defeat was inevitable with JJ at the helm. Hence, changing QB's was the only rational course. It was the only possible route to victory, no matter how improbable. If Lee was inserted and failed, the team would lose nothing, since it was already the epitome of offensive ineptitude. If he was inserted and played well, we had everything to gain. The fact is that you have no idea how Lee would have fared. You are speculating, extrapolating, surmising. He could have collapsed. Or he could have had the best night of his life. None of us will ever know, because Miles refused to even try. It remains the most obstinate and dumbest coaching decision I have ever witnessed in any championship game in any sport at any level. Just moronic.
The issue is that the offense was total arse after the first Alabama game. Look at the start of the Arkansas game or the first half vs UGA where we got no first downs.
Les was hoping TM7 or the defense would get a momentum shifting play like they did in those games. It didn’t happen. There was no coherent offense after the first Bama game.

Regardless.. JJ looked awful against Georgia the game prior.. He was 5 of 13 for 30 YARDS!!!!
and it was clear that LSU was not moving the ball whatsoever with him in championship game.
No reason not to make a change at some point. Lee still had a very good Senior season and should have been put in at some point.
Also, was Mett not an option because he only had 3 to play 2 and they didn't want to burn one of his 2?

So true. Equally true of the two previous games against Georgia and Arkansas. Glad he substituted Lee for JJ in those games otherwise we would never have made the BCS game.

Maybe it was 9-0 at halftime
I sure as hell am not going back to watch it to check myself.

The 2011 Arkansas game was one of Jefferson’s best of the season. He had a bad start but overall played a good game.

What was in the secret photos JJ had of you?

Les Miles is overexposed as hell and needs to go away.
