No you would be a pussy if you would not have jumped in(as long as you did not have little kids with you). Its not like you are trying to fight. Pull the guys off. If they turn on you well instead of being 3 on 1 its not 3 on 2. Chances are better.

That said, none of us really do know.

I've intervened in two separate traffic incidents. Both times when I got out with the Louisville Slugger, they took off running. I've been told I'll end up getting shot one day, and I probably will.

Let the facts come out, let the police take care of that portion of the case. Take your emotions and turn them into sympathy and let's all help out the family

This shite will all fade away just like you WVU posters in a couple of days. We will never hear about a just resolution and we will never play WVU again in our collective lifetimes (Thank God). Hopefully the family takes care of themselves legally and sues the piss out of WVU.

Ahh, who was there? Lt. Harold Sperringer made the little wiseass comment about yellow being an LSU color.

quote:

The department doesn't have much more information than that, Lt. Harold Sperringer said. Sperringer said witnesses provided police with a license plate number but that number did not match any plates in West Virginia or surrounding states. He said detectives are trying different variants of the number, in case someone misread the plate on Saturday. He also said one of the victims reported the assailants were wearing WVU colors. But with more than 60,000 people at Saturday's game, that doesn't help much to identify the suspects. "The odds are, they were wearing West Virginia colors," he said. "But one of West Virginia's colors is yellow, which is an LSU color."

If they were sitting in bumper to bumper traffic they had to have been on Route 705 when the assault happened, which of course is not owned by the University.

WVU is, however, offering them assistance and I think that is great.

Well what exactly is he saying that's wrong? As a police officer he shouldn't be making assumptions. Obviously the victims told him they did not see any indicators of schools on the shirts, so it would be a disservice to the case to limit the search based off of assumptions. He flat out says it's likely they were WVU fans, but he just says they're not ruling out LSU fans. What he's saying is logical. The reason this pisses people off? Because it throws a kink into the a few (not all because there are a lot of level headed posters here) people who have had a holier than thou attitude towards WVU fans.

If, however, the University is found to have provided the alcohol, then they could be liable for damages as well.

I don't even think OJ's lawyer could prove that.

Plenty of precedence. Just look at some case law involving drinking establishments and injury.

I misspoke in implying he was there, but he's had direct contact with the victim, which certainly gives him a clearer image of the incident than anyone else here. Nothing he said is wrong.

So the "new" new story is come to a WVU game where you may be pulled from your car and you and pregnant wife may be assaulted but it has nothing to do with what team you support, just random acts of violence.

Whew, I feel better about this, doesn't everyone?

A "random" act of violence that happened on/near campus in bumper to bumper traffic and that no one helped the victims, no one (as of yet) has come forward as witnesses to identify the attackers or the vehicle or accurate lic plate and even though one of the victims reports to police that the attackers were wearing WVU garb, the ever so clever police who were no where to be found during or after the attack surmise that bcs it was gold it is impossible to determine that on GOLD RUSH night at WVU that it was WVU fans or students.

REALLY? Is Barney Fife running the investigation?

Further, even if the criminal attackers were, as implausible as it seems, not motivated by school/team pride, do any of you really think we care why this guy and his pregnant wife were beaten? They were beaten why, because they happened to be at a WVU game.

"Come to a WVU game where you and your wife may get the sh!t kicked out of you but it won't be because you are an opposing fan, that's just how we roll"

The fact is even though many WVU posters have posted denial after denial that an attack occurred, an attack did indeed occur. It happened.

The lengths some will go to defend WVU in this are way beyond what is rational.

No one not a single poster has stated that there are not drunk and violent fans at nearly every sporting event looking for fights and yes sometimes, all too often, they occur.

But this was not a fight, it was an attack, regardless of motive, are you folks suggesting that fans regardless of who they support are not safe in their cars as they leave WVU games?

I will say again I was not there, I have no inside info nor I am an eye witness, but the more that comes out about this the worse it looks for WVU no matter how hard the WVU posters wish otherwise.

The latest report from the Daily Mail states the vehicle in which the victims were driving was in "bumper to bumper" traffic.

As I asked last evening, as they were being beaten where was the campus police, where were the Morgantown police, the state police, rent a cop campus security, why did no one in bumper to bumper traffic come to their aid?

Spin this all you want but WVU for lack of providing adequate security and anyone who sat by and watched and did nothing is culpable.

I hope the Score 1210 and/or Richard Condon or someone in BR does indeed start a fundraising drive and the focus of these threads can be how to help the victims rather than defend the indefensible.
