“If you look at who beats Alabama, it’s spread teams with a quarterback that can move around like Baker Mayfield. They probably wouldn’t admit it, but Alabama would prefer this matchup rather than the other way. Whenever Alabama has played the more traditional offenses, that is when Alabama usually shuts them down — the Georgias, the LSUs. So that favors them.”

Probably good advise when looking for a new OC.

Bama caught such a break not having to go through OU

They get a freshman QB

UGA figured out what OU was doing and only allowed 7 offensive points in the 2nd half.
Bama likely would have posted 3 quarters like that.

And OU's defense wouldn't be able to stop Bama at all.
The first play of UGA's first 6 drives all went for over 20 yards.
They had over 230 yards rushing before contact in the game. BEFORE contact.
OU's defense may have been the worst ever in the CFP.

It was a terrible matchup for OU.

Ou still scored a ton of points and would probably outscore Bama

Mayfield is the exact type of qb that beats them

Kelly wasn’t that great of a QB and a huge dropoff from Watson.

Alabama got a freaking gift even getting into the playoffs after getting abused on the lines against Auburn. They will beat Georgia because a pocket passing true freshman QB isn't going to beat their press man coverage.

The only thing interesting will be if Kirby Smart, who ran their defense for so long, can get his RBs to effectively run on their defense. If that happens and Chubb/Michel can rush for 150yds then I think Georgia can win.

The way Auburn abused UGA OL in the November game makes me think this is going to be a double digit Bama win though.

Watson and Clemson had to play out of their minds to win in the last few seconds last year. I'm sure Bama was confident that Kelly wouldn't put up that kind of a performance.

They did score points. Smart didn't adjust until halftime. And UGA's Defense isn't as good as Bama's. Nor is Smart as good of a coach as Saban.
And everyone is parroting that Mayfield is the type of QB that beats them. Maybe he is, but their RB did most of the damage in the first half. Mayfield did have success throwing out of the pocket. But when they made OU one-dimensional in the second half by taking away the run, OU couldn't do anything.

I do not believe that OU would be able to stop Bama for two reasons.
1. They could not stop UGA's run game at all, and Bama has a similar run game.
2. UGA didn't need to throw it at all, and Hurts is a much better runner than Fromm.

It likely would have been a worse outcome for OU.

I posted this the other day on secr that Gump fans should be jumping for joy that Ou lost.

Uga much easier for them to defend than Ou.
Fromm is a young Danny Etling.
Manages game, makes couple throws, don't throw ints and give ball to backs.

Alabama will beat uga around same score they beat LSU. Prob same as clemson.
Boring arse game that Alabama will win.

Yeah I was certain Bama would handle Kelly Bryant so I was rooting for Oklahoma to win their game. While UGA is a better team with a better defense, Oklahoma/Mayfield is the type of offense and QB that usually gives Alabama some trouble.

Georgia's offensive strength plays right into the hands of Bama's defensive strength. They'll take away UGA's ground game and put in on Fromm. Advantage Bama. Saban wins another

Auburn is a much better comparison for UGA than LSU.
And Auburn spanked Bama soundly.

Good running game. QB that can COMPLETE throws. And Physical defense that can take away the run and force Hurts to thro.... I mean run to the sidelines on 3rd down and hope to pick up the 1st by running.

We have a statue that I'm still skeptical of getting past Bama and UGA if he starts. No saying MB can't pick up a few yards, but he's not looking to and against the Bamas he needs to.

AL is going to shut them down like they did to Clemson. Game may be over by half.
