It really is starting to look like he will not get drafted. Something really strange is going on. I'm starting to get a feeling that he (La'el) is hiding something. Why would you not get this cleared up, if you knew last weekend that they wanted to talk to you. Maybe he is trying to protect someone?

More like you want something to be going on.

Collins isn't entitled to jack shite, and I get the impression he thoroughly antagonized the entire league with that ultimatum.

Collins knows his worth. Would your arse work well below what you should for four years knowing you are tied to a contract? My belief is that people are not seeing this like it should be seen. A man, if cleared, did nothing wrong and was punished for it. A man. who is on the higher end of his profession, gets peanuts compared to what his actual value is.

You assholes wouldn't work at an 80k job for 20k, so don't expect him to feel any different.

He's doing the GM's a favor and not making them waste a draft pick.

agreed....how dare him think something else may be going on.......obviously nothing is going on......teams just simply overlooked a previous top 15 pick in that late third round.....forgot about him...otherwise, obviously since nothing is going on he would have been drafted.

Seriously, I don't know of anyone who WANTS something to be up. But, it's pretty clear that there is more than meets the eye here...or else some team in the third round would have taken a flyer on a top 15 talent.

The simple fact that he stated he wouldn't sign and would wait until next year obviously means he's confident he won't be in prison right? That's a plus

Correct. NFL teams do a lot of research and something isn't right. If there's nothing to this, he's damn well worth a third round pick.

quote: Could he possibly apply for a special circumstances exemption once his name is cleared and get picked up in the 2nd round ? Some team would surely gamble a 2 next year once they verify he isn't involved? There is no provision for something like this. Either 1) he will be drafted and some team retains rights to sign him and after that time period, if he's not under contract, he becomes a FA or 2) no drafts him and he comes a FA.

Was meaning more so a special exemption if he is 100% cleared - I know it wouldn't be standard, but wouldn't that be the right thing to do so a kids dream isn't ruined when he is innocent ?

Okay how do you decide which of the 32 teams gets him at a 2nd round pick pay day? There is no provision for this so the only fair thing to do is go through FA and earn his next contract. Life sucks sometimes.

Collins may know his worth but he's not getting what he's worth in this years draft or next.

I agree Roger. Some of the lineman that went in the 2nd and 3rd rounds were far inferior to LC. Florida had like 3 OL picked, hell that line has sucked arse recently. NFL ain't touching him for a reason.

he's better off clearing his name as fast as he can... he should have cleared his name as soon as the cops wanted to talk to him.

that cost him millions of dollars.

life is a gamble maybe it's his agent being greedy ,maybe it's a lot of other people trying to run his life so this is his way of having some semblance of control ! I have been guilty of cutting off my nose to spite my face a few times in my life so I understand !

Because they don't want another Aaron Hernandez.

There is also the whole domestic violence angle with a young woman and her infant being killed. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if Roger Godell didn't put out a behind the scenes, " to toxic to touch, no draft" notice on Collins. If Collins got drafted then arrested, it would be Aaron Hernandez, Adrian Peterson and ray rice all rolled into one. That's a huge risk for this media shy issue.

If things went really bad for Collins legally and he had been drafted, the media headline would be "NFL first round draft pick blah blah" as it is the headline would be " LSU great blah blah " .

If Lael comes out pure and free. He will be vindicated next April with a 1st round selection. The NFL will totally understand why as well. Hell, they will empathize big time.

take the next 12 months and get in world class shape and then claim what Iis rightfully yours young man!!!!!!!

its not at all unreasonable that he wanted to pullout (pulling out would have solved a lot of problems here)/, but it was retarded to publicly announce that before you even full vetted that it was allowed. Now he looks like a dumb arse and his chance of getting drafted at all has taken a further hit I he's got a legal case against anyone its his agent (I'm not a lawyer but I'm guessing he can't actually sue his agent just using the phrase to emphasize my point before anyone loses their mind).

Collins needs to sign a one year deal and play his butt off just to set his value for next year. He would make a good salary for this season and if this all gets cleared up, next winter he hits the big time payday.

And then sue the BRPD.... oh, and Roger Goodell for the heck of it.

Correct, and imo, if teams have looked deep at this and believe that there is literally nothing more than the police just wanting to talk to him in hopes he can help them.....then they don't pass on him in the third round. If it backfires, they immediately cut ties with him. Hell, I was hoping the Saints would take him in the third to go with the other first round OT........would have been an incredible talent haul for the Saints through three rounds.....and you know they need quality OL......so........
