They are looking good. Hustling, good defense and making shots.

I was slightly excited until I saw UNC was unranked

Top 25 RPI though. Just keep stacking up good wins before conference play.

LSU destroying them by 20 now. We still aren't a great scoring team but if we stay healthy enough we're getting back to the tourney with the defense we play.

Lady Tigers are much improved. Still not what they were but good effort today. UNC is ebuilding this year but we have some good defenders and some help for Hyder. Nikki seems to at least be interested in the game again.

It's what good coaching looks like... taking a less talented group and making them better

27 point win over UNC (70-43)

The win moves them to 9-2 on the season.
Only losses to UConn (9-0) & Kansas St. (10-1; Their only loss is to UConn)

3-0 vs. the ACC.

What they lack in size, they have in speed and quickness. Their defensive intensity is crazy as well.

If they can go into SEC play 11-2, that would be huge.

Little Rock hasn't scored over 58 this season so we'll probably keep them in the 40's and Alabama St. is winless so 11-2 is highly likely. Right now we're at least good enough to be .500 in conference and that's a solid tourney resume.

I've always thought Nikki was a good bench coach and also she seems to hold her girls accountable. hell she benched her best player half the year a couple of years back.

But talent has been her issue. She seems either unwilling or unable to recruit to a program that was still at a pretty high level in the sport when she got the job.

She's also had a good bit of attrition. Don't enough of women's hoops to know the backstory to that.

These were the same players getting suspended then kicked off the team.

Got a top 20 class coming in.

So all the attrition was girls kicked off the team. None for any other reason? Just asking cause as I said, I really don't know.

Bout time. But I have heard there was a gal at Destrehan that went to Baylor that we never got in the ball game for and a gal at Albany that some think we should be recruiting but are not. Just what I hear from some folks in the know, I'm certainly not.

This team is talented. The starting 5 of Hill, Moncrief, Hyder, Jackson, and Mitchell is formidable. The bench players are playing their roles. I told people here at the end of last year's disaster that this year would be much better. She finally has all the important pieces healthy at once. And they defend like they are pissed at the world. I like how this team is developing.

One recruiting class had 3 players who got suspended constantly and they all eventually got kicked off the team one by one. Two other players gave up basketball but 5 early departures in 5 years isn't bad.

Recruiting ain't perfect but the arrows pointing up again.

I'm admittedly not a woman's hoops expert 22, but I will say from where the program was when Nikki took over, IMHO top 20 recruiting classes should be the minimum expectation and the norm not the exception.

We are where we are because of this, cause I do think the lady can coach.

She took over a program that missed the tourney and that recruiting class was headlined by Forthan who, while highly ranked, was very far from a program building block.

But just what, a year or two removed from 5 straight Final Fours and still well though of enough that the NCAA was still giving home court for the first two rounds if we simply made the tournament.

LSU still had a good name in women's hoops and I don't think she did a good job of capitalizing on that.

Now I'm pulling for her but she IMHO absolutely bears some responsibility for where the team program has fallen and it's mainly due to talent level not coaching.

Of course she does but the arrows pointing back up like I said.

Well, she has been given an opportunity that most coaches paid at the level she is probably would not have been afforded.

I personally hope she can take advantage of that and get it turned around, I like here, she's easy on the eyes and she can coach.

But it's time....no more excuses IMHO. She's getting paid a salary she has not earned to this pointin a sport that don't make much $.
