An all-around great effort by this shorthanded team today and kudos to our GREAT young coach Nikki Caldwell..................who has gotten this team to regroup after the tough loss to Tennessee, and rattled off FOUR STRAIGHT wins here towards the end of the season.
Jean Kenney was a real leader off the bench today with 22 pts (7-8, 3-5 3 pt). Plaisance had a magnificent performance with 20 pts 13 reb 3 blk. Lutley has all of a sudden awoken in the past few ball games and had 15 pts today. Ballard continues to show why she's one of the best freshmen in the nation with 10 pts 6 reb 5 ast 3 stl.

77-72 final. This should put is in the tourney as long as we don't lay an egg against Bama Thursday night.

Exactly!
It's what we needed. If we win against Alabama on Thursday but lose to TAMU next Sunday, we still would've won 6 of our last 7 games. Not bad heading towards NCAA tournament time.

Yeah I think as long as we beat Alabama and win our first round SEC Tourny game we are in.

Not to take anything away from the girls, but I think I'd watch LSU competitive chess if it existed.

I know this team is depleted as far as depth goes, but who do we have coming in next year and is the recruiting under Caldwell looking promising? You can out talent almost every team in WBB.

We have a top class coming in.Next year we bring in a lot of weapons that will contribute immediately. Moncrief is a 5 star guard out of Florida who is a clone of Ballard but is suppose to be better offensively. we also bring in a four star wing jasmine Rhodes. .....................and Nikki will still have about 5 scholarships left for the NEXT class after that. We are about to be LOADED talent-wise.
This is why I've been saying that we need to be patient with Nikki. The fact that she led that team of underachievers to a 24-11 record and a birth in the SEC tournament championship game alone, spoke volumes. Now for her to take this team of freshmen and new starters to where they are now, is proof of another fine coaching job.
We're in good hands.

This. I thought we either needed to win today...or to win at least 2 in the tournament. With today's win, I think we can get away with just the first one in the tournament. We should be a 6 seed, which would put us against the 11, which could be any one of about 4 teams right now. A win there should be enough, with a chance to beat the 3 seed for an extra bonus win.
