They are 3-0 with wins over Witchita State and Sam Houston. Seem to be a formidable opponent that we better not overlook on Friday.

Has anybody watched them play this year?

I'm actually a season ticket holder, very athletic team. Tech will try and press and run the whole game. Duruji #10 has a 46 1/2" vertical. Bracey starting point guard will be back in action after missing the last 2 games! If u are a fan of basketball I recommend going!

That’s what I’m talking about NorthLA. Thanks for the update. We gotta buckle down on defense on the perimeter!

No, but they beat Wichita State pretty badly. And, Wichita State turned around and beat Providence in their next game.

Expect a similar game to last night except with a little more to play for (for them). Tech wants to win this game badly.

Anyway, Sam Houston State plays @ Clemson tonight, so that game can be another good gauge to measure Tech.

Wade was saying before the season it's teams like this people dont look at but are going to be huge resume boosters come tourney selection time. LA tech was only 17-16 last year but returned almost their entire team. They've had an impressive start so far.

They've been missing one of their best players last 2 games (Bracey), not sure how bad he is hurt or what, but if he can play at all I imagine we see him Friday night.

They arent a particularly very veteran/old team but they also dont rely on any freshmen either. Lots of sophomores and some juniors. Like SELA though they dont have a ton of height, so we can take advantage down low on them if we want.

My cousin in a LA Tech student. He’s been hyping up their team and he’s a HUGE basketball junkie and LSU fan so he’s not being a homer.

Thunderbird, I feel like this has been the case with the first 3 teams that we have played but we don’t feed the post enough. Is this what you’re seeing too? We should be feeding our big men on the post more taking advantage of size down low.

UNCG had legit size down low, we couldnt really just take over there. They had an all conference defensive player of the year who was 6'10.

Memphis wasn't like SELA down low, but they also werent obviously as good as UNCG down low either. We did take a lot of advantage of Memphis inside, just look at the points in the paint. Tremont/Reid dribble drived and handed off easy dunks for KBW and Williams. Mays highlight reeled one of their bigs

Wade made a priority of scheduling most non conference games as teams with a shot to help the RPI

All three games so far are for teams that should finish high in their mid major conferences.

Yeah I really feel like Wade is a scheduling genius. He knows how to work the RPI system!

Grambling and Incarnate Word are the 2 really bad black eyes on the schedule, but I expect Wade to get things like this fixed as the seasons continue to get scheduled.

We really need to avoid the outside the Top 300 teams like these guys. Sometimes you may wind u pwith a Southern or Grambling, but I hope we stop putting 2 of those types on the schedule each year. Will be interesting to see how it affects NET vs. RPI, in RPI they are ridiculously bad in terms of bringing you down, even for destroying them by 40-50 points.

And if you look at when they are scheduled those two are right before and after finals when prep time won't be nearly as vigorous so they can study.

I watched them. They are good like they have been for last 8 years or so. They just seem to never be able to get over hump and win conference tourney even with multiple regular season titles during that timeframe, which is why you haven't seen them in the tournament.

Tech has had the best basketball program consistently in the state since 2011ish.

ETA: I fully expect LSU to take that from Tech this year [begun to last year], but should be an excellent test for both teams early on.

Agreed.

I've always wanted to schedule Tech and Im glad we finally have. I'm hoping we continue to put them on the schedule. I'd even be okay doing home and home's with them. Get the away experience but stay in state.

I would love for that to happen, but I think LSU may be on track to jump so far out ahead of the state again that it won't happen. When I was at school at Tech we did get Bobby Knight's Texas Tech team to visit though and it was fun as hell.

The days of playing SWAC teams needs to end both in basketball and baseball.
I understand playing the home state teams but the RPI drag is not worth having them on the schedule anymore.

I think ULL will get on the schedule and you could give them a Cajundome game and they've been competitive under that coach. That at least will generate some fan interest.
