Mett in clean up roll(he is a big kid,has a cannon, but a long delivery and decent footwork and in my opinion will be very good under SK's tutelage but not any time soon)

Interesting ... this is the same kid that was slated to start over Aaron Murray at UGA until he got booted from the team.

Among others... even some prominent websites had him ahead of Murray

thanks, beez...I honestly think that if the o-line can muster a 1 - 1.5 seconds more protection and some improvement in JJ's in-head clock, we will have a jam up offense....

preciate the report...

Doesn't really matter though. He was possibly ahead of another freshman. Not like he was about to overtake a senior who had started the previous two seasons.

I'm looking forward to Mett's reign at LSU. But the thing is, whenever someone says JJ's much improved, there's a side that claims it's because he's playing with the 1s, and Mett's playing with walk ons. (Nevermind JJ is playing AGAINST the 1s as well) It goes both ways, but for me, I actually believe the coaches are gonna play the players they think will give the team the best chance to win. None of us know who that is at this point...it's friggin April 3rd!

Wow. Lighten up. It makes you seem like you may be biased.

It's hard trying to ride the fence and appear neutral, isn't it. You have some very strong opinions about the QB situation and they do not favor JJ nor JL. Not saying that they should. It's ok, though. Let it out.

I'm not. I hope Stephen Rivers and Randall push ZM just as much as he is pushing JJ and JL.

I'm not handing over the keys to him in 2011 nor 2012. Or any other QB for that matter. Earn it.

What in my post indicates I want him to be "handed" anything? I said I look forward to it...not that I look forward to anything being GIVEN to him. I want Rivers to push him too...for the benefit of both of them...and the team.

I said it last night, the problem is Krag came in and said it was an "open" competition and what not. However, based on early reviews/comments it doesn't seem as open as people would like.
From reports all 3 QB's are performing well and each of them has shown improvement as things have progressed.
No offense to JJ but call me a doubter until he can string together multiple good games. His inconsistency has been a hindering factor for the LSU offense. His play has been very up and down during his tenure at LSU and I don't feel he has really carried the team when the defense was struggling (Ole Miss probably only game I can make a claim he carried the team.)

I also think they are going to play the safest player. Maybe they feel Jefferson is best suited because they know his strengths and limitations after 3 years while Mett could be a better player but they don't want him to cost LSU a game or suffer a break down like Lee in 08.

Again like you said it is April 3, I do think when season opens it is Jefferson, Mett, Lee with Jefferson getting 90-95% of the snaps a game. If Krag has improved him great, if he still struggles I hope LEs makes a move, but I will have my doubts until Jefferson strings together more than 1 game of consistently good play.

Do wut? Although I am not sure who you are if you are trying to be comical or not yet.

That is what sticks in everyone's mind.

What sticks in my mind is JJ's role in helping LSU beat Bama with his passing, running, and blocking.

Followed up by doing the same vs. Old Miss and his 4 TD performance in helping us to win the Cotton Bowl and making LSU a Top 8 program for the year.

I'm hoping the light came on for him during that run and Krag can increase the brightness of that light...we will see.

I understand everyone's doubts. I've had a TV the last couple years myself. But right now, there isn't any other way to tell anything but practice...and the coaches are the best judges of what's going on, because a)they're there...and b)they know a lot more about football than the fans.

If by 'safest player', you mean the one more likely to win (even if by "not losing") games, then so be it. Whatever it takes, the job is to win games. Not to play the guy with the best arm.

I quoted you "looking forward to Mett's reign".

There may or may not be one.

That's a bit presumptuous.

Unfortunately, it isn't reasonable to expect people to forget the 2nd half of UNC, the Vandy and WVU performances, or even the Arky performance later in the year...in the midst of the emergence you talk about.

But none of that matters. It was last year. The only thing that matters is what's happening NOW, what will happen in fall camp, and what will happen during 2011 season.

By safest it is the one who will not cost the team a game but also one who could not carry the team when it needs.

Jefferson has been a "safe" player in that regard as I can not think of 1 game he has actually cost LSU. Lee in 08 actually threw away a game or two but Jefferson hasn't. Same token the only game I could think Jefferson actually "won" would be last years Ole Miss where he stepped up his play when the team was struggling.

If he could play like that more often then fine, he will lose many doubters on this board.

Wanna put some money on that?

But yeah...I get your point that it's not a foregone conclusion. But it's silly to say you aren't looking forward to Mett's reign. I don't KNOW that there will be one, but I'm still looking forward to it...just in case. (I think it's a pretty safe bet)

That's your opinion. Mine is that nothing is guaranteed.

Some thought it was a pretty safe bet that we'd have a Perrilloux reign. Look how that turned out.

I like Stephen Rivers' pedigree. If ZM comes here and handles his business thus winning the starting spot, cool. However, I'm not going to get overly excited about something new that hasn't been test-driven in the SEC.
