There were 100 fans in the stands pre skip (maybe sarcastic).

That's true even for Skip's first year in 85. That was my first year at LSU and as a student you could just show your ID and sit basically anywhere behind home plate.

Skip could have rehired Saban instead of allowing bama to scoop him up, but I have a feeling Skip's ego got in the way of that, because Saban would have EASILY surpassed Skip's "legacy" in Tiger history

This may just be the dumbest post I've ever read on TRant & that’s saying something considering the amount of STUPID on TRant.

When you can hire Saban over lesssssssssssss miles, you do it in a heartbeat.

What was our record during Mile's championship season, 6-6??? And we had 276463737 games go just right for us on the last weekend to sneak us in against Ohio State??? I'm also fully aware Saban had the same good fortune. He however, was in the third year of establishing the program. Lessssssss was in charge of a Lamborghini that he did his best to drive into the ground.

Even at that time it was OBVIOUS anyone with a brain would rehire Saban.

This town just wasn't big enough for the both of them. And it cost us at least another 6 titles in football.

Also, if you're not too busy, show me any POWER FOUR school that cares more about baseball than football. Hell, besides dumb arse LSU, show me one that cares more about baseball than men's basketball.

Honorable mention: Dale, Charlie Mac, Dietzel, Bernie Moore, Les[/ quote]

Dietzel a true game changing innovator who established LSU as a burgeoning powerhouse. Until his time football was a two way sport. Players expected to play both offense and defense, with first and second string doing all the work. The platoon system with the Bandits and the Go Team changed football for the next 60+ years.

Saban over Skip …

Skip changed the game, literally. He not only but a storied powerhouse of a program, won five championships in a decade, but the entirety of NCAA baseball adjusted because of his influence. You’d be hard pressed to find a more influential coach in all of collegiate sports.

But before we throw KM in the top three, didn’t we have a Track & Field coach in there that dominated for a bit? Sent a few guys and gals to the Olympics?

Hasn’t Gymnastics been incredibly successful at LSU? I see we’re packing the PMAC when most programs can’t give tickets away.

Say what you want about Les - there’s plenty to be bitched about to be sure, and I’d never put him in the top three - but didn’t he send more guys to the NFL than Saban during the same time frame (or close to it)? Recruiting and development should count for something.
