If it's private money doing that spending, what does it matter to you?

Barmore deserves all the pub, but if we're being honest, he did it in an era where there only like 5 passable women's teams in the entire nation. Mulkey's coaching in a MUCH more competitive era.

There’s an article outlining why she is tGOAT. Even without all the titles of UCONN. It is the era and the fact that she has done it at multiple programs at a higher percentage than anyone.

They spent $11.8M of LSU’s money last year. These trips are included in that

You do know the NCAA covers the team expenses for the tournament, right?

Even if these extra people aren't included in that, the extra costs would be negligible. Kim is probably covering the cost herself.

People actually believe that donors are covering the 11.8.

They lost 11.8. That came from the AD budget which includes private donors.
WBB is a drain on the AD budget. That’s a fact.

People bitching about the WBB program costs are hilarious.

The fact is that CKM is a winner, and winners get to call their shots. She is the GOAT and has as much pull on campus as anyone. Tate, SW nor anyone else is going to tell that woman no. I'd bet she could have the Governer on the phone in 15 minutes if she wanted. She will run her program how she wants and will retire when she wants. I suggest the whiners get on board and enjoy the ride or they can just be miserable, because the situation will not change with WBB.

The pitiful state of MBB has nothing to do with WBB.

There’s a 10MM difference between the 2 because of TV contracts. 10MM is hard to ignore especially for a university that will need to compensate for back payment.

I love CKM and the program but there is always a high water mark you don’t ever want to pass in spend. That may be is so it’ll have to come down to what they can continue to afford.

The WBB TV contract $$ will go up this year.

https://justwomenssports.com/reads/ncaa-march-madness-womens-tournament-media-deal/

And there is support for the program because of CKM. They had a $1 million donation to redo a locker room used by 12 ladies. The support will be there. Where is all of the support for the MBB program? Crickets...

Yes, there is a finite amount of resources but WBB isn't the drain whiners make it out to be and is not the reason MBB is in the shitter. There is waste in all organizations and SW has made some questionable choices, I suggest looking there first.

Except that it is. Unless taxpayers fund the athletic department, it's all athletic department funded and private donations. You can bitch all you want, but as long as the athletic department is breaking even, all of these dollars spent are well spent. The contribute to the LSU brand.

People won't realize it though. It'll still be grouped in with the other sports on the spreadsheet so it'll look worse than it is and people will cry about all the money we "waste" on women's basketball. Our NCAA Distributions number will go up though with the units they pay out to teams advancing in the tournament.

Does the tweet mean LSU was the first to do it this year?

I'm not sure, but I think it's been done by some other teams in the past.

I'll try checking.

They lost 10.8 MM. there were no donations to cover it. It is what it is.

They lost that much money. No way around it. People are stupid if they believe otherwise.
