He’s an analyst right now... if he wants to come join LSU as an analyst fine.. but he’s done nothing to prove he’s worthy of coaching a position at the collegiate level. I don’t understand everyone’s obsession with former players coming back.. just look at Kevin Faulk he’s been a swing and a miss.. our running backs and recruiting rbs has sucked this year

Dude that has everything to do with play calling and our god awful offensive line. If we sign Kiner and Goodwin this recruiting class I’ll say that’s a damn good haul.

James Cregg has been an offense line coach in college and pro since 2007. We probably have one of the worst O-lines in the SEC Can you imagine if Kevin walks in a recruits home ( one of the greatest O-lineman to ever play the game) and says “ I’m going to coach you at LSU and get you to the next level”. As far as Kevin Faulk goes he was just promoted to running back coach in February so the book is still out on him

I’d be pretty humbled and excited if a Hall of Famer wanted me to play for him.

I had the fortune to see Kevin interact with the team about 4 years ago. He must have given a presentation to them previously about the NFL etc. Remember he was also the player representative president or something.

Watching them interact there was not a doubt in my mind that he would kill it as a recruiter.

The problem is he has zero track record that he can teach OL play. Yes it’s pretty likely. But ask yourself if there is a reason he is still not an ol coach ANYWHERE? He should do that for at least two years and show that he’s got the coaching skills before LSU hires him in that capacity.

Is there any indication he wants to be a full-time position coach? I'd imagine he's pretty happy counting his money, teaching OL skills as an analyst, and not working 80 hours a week travelling the country and grovelling to teenagers.

And yet there was another thread yesterday about people complaining about Kevin Faulk. People were dying to have Kevin Faulk as the RB coach last year. So I don’t understand the infatuation to have Mawae on staff when he would be another inexperienced coach.

All I know is our RB's are the biggest dropoff on the roster this year and if you look at A&M's RB's they are over there balling with our former RB coach who had a long college coaching career.

We were given the award for best line in CFB last year... the talent label was good not great.. good coaching. And Burrow being able to make the right calls at the line.

4 year starter at LSU
16 years in the NFL as Center and Guard
8 times named to Pro Bowl
3 times All Pro
2019 Pro Football Hall of Fame

I think he qualifies quite well to have a coaching position.

I love this board. A hall of fame offensive lineman. And the board questions if he knows enough to teach our players how to block.

Yeah I would hate to have Phil mickelson break down my swing. He’s got no experience as a coach.

I’ve posted this before but Kevin was on sports radio the week after 1/9/12 just breaking down the complete failure of the offensive line in the game. What they were doing wrong scheme wise and how he would have changed up the strategy to combat what saban was doing. And how frustrated he was that apparently no one with the team knew what to do

He would kill it.

I think the problem is that he is seen as a threat to the authority of whoever is the current coach. He’s media savvy and he speaks his mind.
