Collins had like all but 600 yards at LSU, no?

Yes, in three complete games (172 Ms St, 232 Auburn, 179 Akron). He broke his leg on his 3rd carry against Vandy in what would have been his fourth game. Cecil basically averaged 200 yards per game in his only games. LF averaged 79.5 yards per game in his first year with his best game being 146 against A&M.

I'd take Fournette all day too. My original post was intended only to dispute the misguided folks who didn't appreciate Collins' talent.
I've been going to games since Art Cantrelle ran the football for the Tigers. Collins WAS the most talented running back I had ever witnessed at LSU......until Leonard Fournette happened

Why do you guys keep glorifying this nut job headcase? He had a great high school carreer, epic, few games at lsu and then the downward spiral.

LF is one of the best atheletes ever to step into tiger stadium and last year cemeneted that.

I thought the thread was about what Kevin Faulk said about how LF compares to Cecil? My posts are also comparing the two.

The more appropriate comparison is how great Fournette would be running behind the OL that Collins had. When I watch the Collins videos, I see an OL getting it done. Yes - Cecil hit the hole as aggressively as anyone I can think of, but he sure had a lot of running room.

There is a long history of Cecil on this site glorifying his 3 games at LSU. Rather say Charles Alexander and LF compare at LSU at least personally.

fournette is bigger, but i don't know about a step faster. maybe. it's marginal. fournette may have won state in 5A 100m, but it was a slow time for state champ and others (speedy in particular) weren't running.

a players instincts really show up at the nfl level (see trent richardson) so we'll see how fournette does. i think he'll be fine.

Alan Faneca and Todd McClure on that line. A couple of NFL greats.

I think his legal issues had a lot to do with that.

During his nfl career he 3 games woth 20 or more carries and none of those games dod he have ypc over 3.8 yards.

He had under a 3.0 ypc in 5 different games.

Oh what could have been...CC was great, just didn't last very long...if CC had the mental stability of LF, then I think they would be more comparable to each other, but since that didn't happen, my money is on LF7...

Lf also plays in the most dominant era of sec football ever. when CC played in the sec 3 losses won you the west.

Leonard may have outrun Cecil in the 40 but I don't believe he had the short-yard acceleration Cecil had.

Did you watch a single game sober last season?

Could have been a poor OL at Miami. Wasn't because Collins didn't have the talent.

This comparison thread is silly.
To deny CC's incredible talent leaves one looking DUMB.
No doubt Fournette has a lot of guidance to help keep him straight...not too sure The Diesel had any of that.
They were/are both incredible talents to witness from an LSU fan perspective.

Most of them, not all. Started all of them straight. I watched Cecil's and LF's highlights today and made my post after watching both highlights. Haven't had anything to drink. Cecil hit the hole hard and was shifty.

Watching the two, LF's running style is similar to Afred Blue and Harvey Williams. After watching Cecil then LF, it seemed like LF runs straight up until he is about to get hit.
