Throwing hard balls is not effective. Also, Rizy and Sheerin are probably the most similar pitchers we have on staff. How do you put them in back to back?
You couldn’t possibly be more wrong. Rizy couldn’t put two in a row in the zone if the batter went back to the fricking dugout
Sheerin pounded the zone most of the inning, but he couldn’t just power it by two of their hitters. They fouled off until they got what they wanted and teed off on a couple of pitches.
But they are nothing alike and didn’t pitch anywhere close to the same.

Every game with this team is like watching a slow motion car wreck. fricking pitiful
It’s baffling how we are not good at anything:
Catchers bad, fielding not good, except Milam, pitching and hitting a consistent shite show

Hindsight 20/20 but I would have given Williams one batter until he failed.
I don’t think it’s really hindsight. We’re gonna have to steal some outs from guys we don’t normally count on. Williams was throwing well.
Taking him out was a strange move in the moment.

Jay gets a pass this year. We should be grateful to have him.

Nice hit. Dardar has had a damn good series.

I mean if the dude is gonna win multiple titles, I don’t give a damn if we have off years in there. It sucks to watch this year, but in this era we won’t have down years very often.

Nice job, Dardar. Kentucky’s deep in their pen, too. Don’t give up, guys.

I’m still gonna melt about it.

Braun has been good yesterday and today, too.

Yeah, I would like to know what exactly they judge in high school to rate these guys the number one catchers
Think about what they are looking at. You have guys catching mostly pitchers who won't even get a D2 offer, throw a 65-70 MPH fastball at best, no breaking ball to speak of, and maybe a changeup. That makes it a lot easier to track down pitches that miss the spot.. They also have way more wild pitches than PB due to a complete lack of control that sometimes happens in HS. It is difficult to really pinpoint the jump from HS to top-level college as a result.
I think if you were to look (just a guess on my part) you would see a lot of catchers who make it through college to the pros are not the top HS guys, but the guys who make a team and know they have to work really hard to get on the field.
