Derek Ponamsky said Hilliard had either one kid or twins during the season. And if that's the case I can see him not being focused

It was twins.

Ridley made it a whole season, didn't he?

Well he was never hurt, but suspended fir academics. Still, we never go a season without losing the starter. Maybe 07.

Why does everyone assume Hilliard is leaving? I'm not naive enough to say he won't, but has this ever come out of his mouth?

He tweeted something that alluded to it.

The problem with Hilliard is he doesn't consistently run behind his pads. While he is strong, he doesn't use his strength to his advantage by running too high. Blue can run high at times but he has very good feet and his quick. Hilliard does not have as much quickness. If Kenny used his size to his advantage, he would be on the field more; only problem: Jeremy Hill is a beast and Blue is very good when healthy.

Unfortunately for us but fortunately for him yes that has come out of his mouth.

I don't know how, but he lost a lot of power compared to his freshman year. Rarely last year that he gained yards after 1st contact compared to a year before when he was like a tank. I really hope he bounces back because I love to see punishing RBs do their work.

For me it's the same reason I assumed Ford and Ware were leaving. Minter and Simon, also. If a player's body is mature, and he's had plenty of playing time, his draft stock is not going to go up much.

If he stayed, Hilliard could at least hope to get half the carries his senior year. That would make him much more known to fans, but the NFL won't see anything they haven't already seen. Go pro, young man!

If history follows the course it has always followed at LSU for RBs, Hill will have some type of injury and miss time this year. Blue will show his form from last year pre-knee injury and Hilliard will split carries with him and look beastly doing it.

2012 - Blue gets hurt and Hill gets a chance
2011 - Ware is suspended and Hilliard comes in
2010 - Ridley gets hurt and Ware comes in bowl game
2009 - Scott gets hurt and WIlliams gets to shine

It happens a fair bit. Hilliard is a very good RB and when he decides to be physical it's hard to bring him down. If he had a nagging injury last year then that could explain why he didn't finish his runs as hard as the other RBs.

We also have many who get hurt mid season:

Alley Broussard
Joseph Adaai
Justin Vincent
Blue
Just to name a few.

Ridley stayed healthy all season but that's an outlier.
We need at least 3 healthy big backs. That said, I don't think Hilliard was hurt, he just got outdone by Hill and then shut it down towards the end of the season.

Talked to a former WR & he said KW fumbled a lot in practice, too, & then Hill took over. He ended up never really getting back into the groove. In this league, we need at least 3 quality RB's, not just one super star recruit for next yr.
