I liked leslie for most of his tenure but to even compare the two leslie inherited like ryan day was born on 3rd base while bk inherited the dugout

Agreed! I know Kelly would have swapped QBs in the title game miles lost!

Miles record vs Top 25, Top 10 and Top 25 when LSU was higher ranked (like vs USC) is vastly superior to Brian Kelly.

His record vs teams with similar or higher rankings was pretty damn good too save for the Bama stretch post ‘11. He won a ton of big, top 10 games. He had his faults, obviously, and stumbled a bit towards the end, but he was a helluva coach for most of his time here.

So saying Kelly is worse than Miles isn’t quite the insult OP thinks it is. However, I won’t concede just yet that Kelly is worse than Miles. Very hard to compare as both took over completely different situations and are coaching in completely different eras of college football. And Kelly’s story at LSU is far from over.

oh bullshite just like he sorted things out in that national championship game in 2011 Miles was hardheaded and fricking stubborn and you’re blind and if you don’t see that, he refused to change shite that’s why lost his job

Hard to swallow he's the best coach in our history isn't it? No amount of hate is ever gonna change that. Begs the question, why do we expect to be a program we've never been then shite on the coach that got as close to that peak as we've ever been? Miles was the golden era of LSU football to this point, like it or not.

Miles was a very good coach here for about 8 years. It’s also somewhat fair to argue he held the team back from accomplishing even more.

I think in discussing this it's important to point out that Miles took over an LSU program in probably the best shape in almost every way, that it had ever been in the history of the program. One could debate that Mac taking over in '62 the program was in comparatively good a shape, but that was a different time and considering the modern game I think the nod definitely goes to LSU 2005 in this regard.

Kelly did not have that luxury, and NIL has changed the game a bit as well.

I'm not saying Kelly is the best coach ever or even a good coach, I'm still on the fence there, but I don't think you can have a reasonable discussion or a comparison of the two without pointing out the difference in the situations each inherited.

Les Miles won SEC and National Titles.

BK will never win a SEC Championship game.

with Nick Saban’s players, he also lost to Wisconsin, Auburn a couple times blew a 21 point lead to Tennessee never crossed the 50 yard line versus Alabama in a national championship game. We can continue.

How good was it when he faced teams of equal or greater players and depth? It was abysmal.

He won more than he lost, and it took him way overstaying his welcome while not adjusting for it to look "bad"

Les was a great coach. Kelly has done nothing to be considered better than him.

Atleast Miles played through the strength of the team which was running. KELLY and his fake accent tried to run the darn ball well knowing that it was not working. You already ruined my season you Kelly. Just retire if you even have a little bit of respect.

He’s not worse than Miles the last few years of Miles, but I do agree, he did ruin the season. Again. It’s pretty lame to start the season out like that. Which is why we should stop scheduling big games first game of the season.

We can’t, and won’t win a first game unless it’s against a cupcake. Our teams just do not come to play the right way without a warmup game. It’s like BK just forgets where he is after the offseason.

Season = ruined.
