it is a business, the "kids" are paid professional athletes, this is their job, and it's also Kelly's job

Thank you for an intelligent response to “Mr. Throw Shade at Coach Guy”….mine was not going to be nearly as articulate or merciful…

I agree, relax & enjoy the game. But the only way Brian Kelly can avoid a complete meltdown from the fans is to actually win a 1st game.

So, they didn’t embrace the importance of previous openers? Is that why he’s lost them all? Don’t know if he’s the best man for the job

Meh. Many great coaches take the approach of treating games the same in terms of prep and planning to create a routine and pattern and to try and prevent letdowns. And no coach should have to get players up for an opener.

But after losing 5 openers in a row, it’s definitely time for a shake up.

Hard disagree on 23 FSU. That defense was never going to allow us to win that game. The others, yes.

The OL that started the 22 game certainly didn’t help us in that one, but I understand not going with two true freshmen out there in an opener. But having Dellinger at Center was also an issue. Still has a shot to get it back, though.

FSU was a better team in 23 because of the defense.

We absolutely should have won last season.

Probably, but it would only be a temporary meltdown. The games after Clemson are much more important.

To a degree.

Beat Clemson, then LSU has to go 9-2 (6-2) to make the CFP. Arkansas, Florida, South Carolina, A&M at home are winnable. Especially considering BK is 10-2 in SEC games at home. That give you room to lose two road games and still reach the CFP.

Lose to Clemson and LSU has an incredibly narrow margin for error. That's why in the current situation the Clemson game doesn't make much sense from a competitive standpoint. The risk (i.e. a loss) FAR outweighs any benefit a win would provide given the committee has already shown SOS and strength of win doesn't matter much...except for maybe seeding.

It wouldn’t be temporary bc if Kelly loses another big opener it shows the fans nothing has changed in regards to his ability to win big games on the road. That will make traversing the SEC that much harder and less room for error

Verge needs to be fired for always screwing season ticket holders with neutral site games and always agreeing to go to the opposing teams stadium first. I know we get Clemson here next year, maybe, but we will not have our senior quarterback. Verge is horrible.

LSU was favored in every opener under Kelly. This time a 3 point dog. Maybe they play better as a dog.
