Kelly and Denbrock wanted a running QB and that’s what we have a run 1st QB

Our QB drops back to pass then tucks it and run as his 1st option. He does not reposition himself with the intent to throw the ball because he tucks it under his arm and runs
Say all you want about him being under pressure due to poor online play. FSU QB was under pressure all night and he kept delivering the ball to his receivers over and over for 1st downs. He even delivered a TD strike while being targeted. He repositioned himself to find open receivers or delivered the ball quickly. He was a pass first QB and run only when required.

I don’t know what adjustments were made with JD in the 2nd half but he started getting the ball out quickly and spreading it all over the field. That was very encouraging to see and gives us hope that adjustments can be made.

We stopped running a middle school offense with condensed formations trying to run 1970s-era deep passing routes

At least we saw he has the ability to throw pretty well.

He does need to keep looking down the field when he scrambles.

He’s noticeably fast as shite.

The question is, will they adapt and run what works

Or are they going to be les miles 2.0 and trust their system.

The OL is garbage.

What was more concerning to me was that it was like we had just discovered crossing routes with 10 minutes left in the 4th. I was extremely concerned with how we were calling our offense with downfield routes and straight drops when they'd rush 3 against 5 and come into the backfield untouched.

No one on our offense was put in position to succeed last night.

The issue is he doesn't at all. When he feels pressure, he runs.

That has to be fixed, he's gotta throw from out of the pocket.

FSU started playing prevent defense, stopped blitzing completely, and were willing to give the underneath passes.

There is zero reason to be confident in Denbrock having "figured things out." The change was 99% on FSU giving us easy throws to limit big plays.

If you listen to ND fans, Kelly was always very stubborn about forcing guys to run his system and not adapting.

This is both in-season and in-game. He's not an adjustment guy. He's a "my scheme is brilliant and you just have to execute it better" guy. Hence why I'm calling Denbrock Cam Cameron 2.0

This is such a bullshite take. You are fricking blind if you watched that game last night and did not see him go through progressions.

Have a bad feeling they’ll just keep running their system

He went thru some progressions. But, his pocket presence was Max Johnson levels of awful. He's got to step up into the pocket when a DE is coming around the edge.

It's perfectly fine for an offensive tackle to let a DE go on the outside and push him further. Your QB has to be able to step under that rather than freaking out and trying to run backwards or around the guy. That led to holding calls and QB pressures that wouldn't have happened if Daniels stepped up.

I'm sure some of you saw the Bryan Driskell show where he's said lay won't win a title. When he says that the old Brian Kelly is gone, he specifically meant the guy you saw at Cincinnati that was an offensive innovator. He NEVER showed up at Notre Dame. Kelly will right your shop, at least somewhat but get ready for vanilla offenses that don't turn it over and really bad special teams.

Nothing inherently wrong with a mobile QB. The problem last night was how long he held the ball. He made a weak OL look even worse because he apparently lacks an internal clock.

If the ball were coming out or he was running on the last step of his drop it would have been much better night. Daniels thought it was a good idea to hold the ball several seconds more.

This is what stupid people do not realize. This take is 100% correct. Burrow was average in 18 because he wouldn't get rid of the ball. He made the same OL look decent in 19 because he got rid of the ball quickly. The OL won awards because he figured out releasing quick made everyone better. Nuss will release quicker and Daniels never will.

all 5 of those OL are currently on an NFL roster. Let's not act like they were scrubs that Burrow made look good.
