This one one thing CPM does better than a lot of coaches in the country. A coach will risk a players future for the sake of a win. CPM on the other hand is concerned it appears with his players futures, he knows that for many of his players LSU is just a step into much greater things and it isn't all about LSU. There are plenty of times he could have over worked Nola but he stayed on the exact same rest schedule the entire season and Nola will be fully ready to start working his way to the majors.

Then why have a number of LSU pitchers injured their arms and/or had Tommy John surgery?

Did you guys call out Skip when he overused Mestepay?

Skip did this with several pitchers including Patrick Coogan. But bringing in a guy to close a game isn't the same as running a pitcher out there to give you 7 or 8 innings on a couple days rest.

Because their high school coaches have done the same thing the Houston coach did. LSU had not had very many pitchers have tommy John after 2 or 3 years of being in the program. Most of those injuries were due more than likely to being overworked in high school.

Yes. and McDonald. I love skip, but he slagged arms at an alarming rate. No decent pitching prospect should have ever step foot in Baton rouge while Skip was the coach, as he destroyed arms due to overuse.

Of course the kid wants to pitch. The coach is the adult. He needs to protect the people he is responsible for. What's worse in this case is Houston didn't need to overuse that kid. LSU was not coming back. He jeopardized a kid's health to protect a 7 run lead. Have some human decency.

That made it just over the top. LSU lost, there are no excuses, but this coach needs to be called out.

Yep. Fortunately, parents are becoming more and more involved with their kid's athletic careers, and parents pay attention to things like this. In the long run, it will hurt recruiting.

Skip abused Mestepey. Doing things like starting on Friday then the next Tuesday. Pitching twice in the SEC tournament. (But I thought Skip didn't care about those). And starting twice in the 2001 regional.
