I don't care what opponents think. I don't care how many vulgarities are yelled from the student section. I just don't want to lose any more musical tradition because these children are trying to do their best impression of high school.

Cursing? Duh

Do you have any clue what this thread is about?

Then don't stop it. Come up with a language made entirely of cuss words if you want. Just don't use it during the songs.

Not really, but I'm not going to repeat myself.

Enjoy your crappy piped-in music then.

Yes. It is quite explicitly about the vulgarities used during songs. That doesn't change what I've put... It's always been around and will always be around - no matter what songs are played.

Yes it does. Will Students use vulgarities at games? Yes, of course, and there is nothing you can do about it. Do students use vulgarities in unison with certain band songs? Yes, and I think it's obvious that something can be done about it.

Trash. See that capital T?

But hey, keep up the good work in the student section. As you can tell, you and the rest of the student section are making the school and the band proud.

Its not about the cursing. It's about the nature of what's being said. Sorry you weren't raised to understand the difference between the two.

Like they say on the OT. trailer park gonna trailer park, right?

Wanna end the piped in music?

If the students sing the inappropriate words to piped in music will that stop the Admin from playing that stuff?

Can't believe this thread is still going.

It's not even about piped in music anymore. It's about not acting like Wisconsin Football Fans or Maryland Basketball Fans.

It's really about showing decency while STILL being the most intimidating environment in NCAA.

"Suck that Tiger D*ck" is so feeble, anyway. Not only the other Tiger fans laugh at it.....the oppsing fans laugh at it too.

You'll get it when you're not in your 20's anymore.

It's a damn shame the ruhtards can't act more maturely. "Neck" is a majestic and powerful song for the Tiger Band to play. The entire stadium gets amped up. Players do too.

Totally not the point. The point is....never mind. Read the next post.

This is a "mock letter" that I think Joe Alleva should have posted on LSUSports.net. I think it captures the essence of what this thread is intending to be about.

quote:

Dear LSU students:

You are an integral part of the atmosphere of Tiger Stadium and your support is unquestioned as you help make Tiger Stadium one of the most feared venues in college football.

However, the very vulgar and obscene chants that many of the students add to the music that is played by the Golden Band From Tigerland during the games has begun to cause problems. LSU football games are seen on television and heard on radio by millions of viewers and listeners each week. These questionable lyrics that many of you are choosing to chant are loud enough so that they are audible to the many who are watching or listening to the game. It is embarrassing to LSU and is casting a poor image on what is otherwise considered to be the best tradition in all of college sports: a loud and vibrant Tiger Stadium.

It is not my wish to diminish the enthusiasm of the student body at the games. However, I am imploring you to participate in "cleaning up" the language that comes out of the student section. I am fully confident that the student section will not lose its edge by stifling the vulgar language.

I will leave it up to you, as students, to police yourselves and do the right thing in the future. However, if the vulgarities continue, then I have no choice but to provide punishment. If at any point in the future the vulgarities return and are audible, then I will have no choice but to "suspend" the band from playing songs in the stands, except for the down cheers and the touchdown spell-out. The suspension could be imposed immediately, or for the next full game. It is not my intention to stifle our band, but LSU does stand for class and if I feel the need to take such actions, then I will.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter. I truly believe that all of us at LSU want our university to be portrayed in the most positive way possible on television.

Geaux Tigers!

Herb Vincent......errrrrr....Joe Alleva.

The "tl,dr" crowd can suck my tiger dick, bitch...

Jet, is there any chance that y'all will replace the banned songs with something else, or are y'all just gonna play less while in the stands?

It's a shame that some people on here don't get the point you're trying to make. They'll probably be among the first to bitch when all that's left is either dead silence from the band or piped in music.

Ironically, there is a thread in the SEC rant talking about about Bryant-Denny has become a much tougher place to play due to coordinated efforts between the school, band, and students.
