I think we have better tackle body types than Kardell

I love Kardell film, but he looks weak. Needs to buss his arse this summer when he gets to campus.

I don’t know if he will stay at guard but not too many guards get drafted in the first round.

Yep. For comparison, Adrian Magee who was a JR last year squatted 605 over the summer which is the same weight Kardell squatted as a HS SR last fall.

He was more dominant before he got a little too heavy and struggled when they tried him at OT in some camps, but when he hits camp this fall he should excel. He has an aggression and drive that can't be taught. I'm not sure how much playing time he will get this year because the OG spot is crowded, but I full expect him to start in 2020.

There’s no chance in hell ou watched Kardells film if you think he’s weak. That’s literally never been he complaint on him.

The knock on Kardell was he’s op heavy and carried bad weight. Never has he been called weak.

I like the kid and think he has a bright future at LSU bc of his work ethic and enthusiasm, but he is not very strong for a 300+ pound guy, especially for a Guard in the SEC. I can honestly see him losing 40 lbs of fat and putting on 30lbs of muscle over 2 years with Moffit and being a great guard in 2 years. But he just doesn’t have the body to start right now:

His perspective is great.

I can tell you that he is not likely going to start as a true freshman, BUT under the right training program, he can become a monster...….he's not there yet.

He has the base to become something special.

Perspective.....Austin is way ahead of Kardell right now (as he should be). Strength isn't even comparable, but Kardell is a pup and will develop into a grader with attitude.

Also, Kardell is an OG.

if two of the breakout players are Charles and Deculus maybe OT will finally be a position of strength.

I'm not sure if I've ever remembered OT being a strength on our team. Maybe one elite tackle but when have we ever had two OTs with NFL talent at the same time? Chris Faulk didn't make it. L.Collins was elite but can't remember who was the RT during his time.

Vadal Alexander was the RT for most of the La’el Collins era with some Jerald Hawkins too but Hawk ended up playing LT also.

By position of strength I didn't mean one of the best position groups on the team. I meant perform at an above average level. I probably didn't choose the best term.

Honestly, if we can get above average play from our OL I think this team will be a CFB playoff contender.

If he's as good as advertised, start him. In 2014 another heralded OL recruit from La named Cam Robinson went to Bama and started his Fr-Jr years. He didn't sit, wait, and learn. Get the best 5 OL on the field, and stop worrying about their classification.
