Meh, as long as there has been team sports, scrubs/non-contributors have always led the pack in the post game celebrations. It's like some weird inverse law, the less you do the more you make your presence known. Anybody remember Jai Eugene's pursuit of towel waving perfection?

Or better yet, this guy who always ran around with trophies yet basically never played:

lets remember he put on the extra pounds because he felt that he had to be stronger and bigger to compete against AB and JA in the backfield. Also not to mention the injury

I have a friend that knows him and said he got very cocky after his freshman year and we won the NC. It really is a shame that he wasted his talent. I think he could have been something special. Just look what he put together in his freshman year. He didn't even start the whole year. For not focusing himself, he lost out on millions of dollars when he went undrafted in the draft.

Seriously, good for JV. Just wish he had shown some discipline and a little more heart while here. Maybe stayed home a couple of nights a week and he wouldn't have lost a step. Hard to have that burst with an extra 15 lbs. hanging on you.

It takes heart just to step on that field and practice everyday my friend. And to make just the practice squad is more than any on the Rant could hope for.

It takes a lot of heart and talent to even make the practice squad in the NFL so more power to him.

Not to mention, he's making more money now then any of us will see in our lifetime.

Good for you JV, not many folks have a BCS NC ring and a Super Bowl ring.

I think JV had more talent than Joe Addai, Jacob Hester, and numerous others who had much better careers than him. Doesn't take a ton of heart just to step on the practice field if God blessed you with that much talent. It takes heart to make yourself great then. If your Rudy or like 90% of us it does take heart and dedication just to get out there. If you have great talent and are merely just average with flashes of what you could be then you shortchanged your talent. And he didn't get fat trying to bulk up to keep up with AB. That weight came from Bogies and Freds.

Practive squad folks make ~90k/Year. If he's lucky he'll be on the squad for 3 years. That means we're talking about a whopping $270k; most folks make more than that over a lifetime...

OK-- Check this out. For 2008 season--$5200/week for 16 weeks and likely more for playoff weeks right? So you are fairly close. However do not forget to add about $50K bonus for 2007 season due to playoffs and a huge bonus for the championship. Be sure to include premium tickets to all of the games including playoffs that can be turned over without NCAA police and the value of the ring and other memoribilia. I say way over $270K. This puts his earnings beyound a few more folks.

Completely wrong. He was at the bar everytime I went when I was there and I know he went out way more than me. He got cocky, partied alot, and thought talent would be enough. I know a couple of guys from his hometown that he knows well and they think the same thing.
