My son came home from school recently and showed me this fortnight dance. I didn’t know what the frick he was talking about so I just smiled and told him “that’s awesome little buddy”. Now I know more

Can’t copyright a dance move. Only a choreographed routine ie sequence of moves can be copyrighted.

It’s weird you say this bc I saw something about it on tv this week. There’s a company started up by some black dancers/entertainers and their main focus was individual dance moves and certain things associated with black culture and finding a way to copyright/profit from them. It all started bc white people were getting interviewed and tv appearances for the things they did on tik tok that were originally done by someone black. They gave the originators credit, but they wanted more. It isn’t their fault if people would rather see someone who just so happens to be white do it over the other person who happens to be black. It all goes back to those that say white people always steal black culture and try to make it their own according to the clip I watched.
