same thread..5 pages into it...
Was it Saban?
Or was it Bertmann?
Because under Bertmann, State has had the most success they've had under any AD in their history, and he was among the most successful ADs in the US.
Now, you might ask what Bertmann has to do with Saban. This is where I get weird. If you believe in luck, State has become very lucky recently, in a number of sports.
They used to be lucky in baseball... when Bertmann was coach. (Remember how they barely got past us in 1990? Without a swing at a ball in the dirt, UL might have gone to Omaha, and State would have missed their first NC.)
Then suddenly, it was a lot of sports... after Bertmann became AD. Forget for a moment about Saban's coaching, or his teams. Look at the two football NC's (under two different coaches!) and how the cards seem to fall exactly right, not just for State to win games in amazing ways late in the game (which you might attribute to the talent or the coaching), but also in the national polling.
Everyone says a lot of luck goes into an NC. What do you guys & gals think?
If you sit back, it looks like the kind of luck that Notre Dame had for... well, forever. And you have heard it said a dozen times about ND, "the luck of the Irish."
Now, if you don't believe in luck, then clearly, my argument is null & void.
But if you do believe in luck, it's important.
Because from what I understand, Bertmann got fired because he realized TAF was damaged goods. When he was hired as baseball Coach, he insulated himself from them. As AD, he tried to hold them at bay.
And from what I heard, they had him fired because of it.

I am utterly shocked by what I just read. I have seen some shite but this absolutely takes the cake.

I'm still laughing over it.
what's even better is that he is assuring that bertman was "fired" because of his conflict with TAF.
I'm not an encyclopedia of LSU or anything because im only going to be a frosh there this fall..but wasnt bertman the main reason why the TAF has been so successful in the last 6-7 years??

The same handful of idiots who post on that site also insist on calling themselves UL, when the official name is ULL.
My wife and several of my relatives went to school at Southwestern. Not a one of them has any interest in anything having to do with academics or athletics at that school. They are all rabid LSU fans.
The ULL Alumni association has never contacted any of them for any reason. A great way to promote loyalty from your graduates.
But that is probably a conspiracy by LSU as well. That school has and always will be a joke.

Bless their little hearts, it's gotta be hard being A UL-L person. I mean I was almost in shock two years ago when we played ULL & I realized that their merchandise included jerseys and moreover that some people actually bought them (j/k). In all seriousness, I mean when LSU played ULL in 06, I heard more ULL fans say "GO UL, enh, GO LSU, we're gonna lose anyway"

I did some research and found that 55% of their roster comes from the state of Louisiana and 77% comes from the surrounding states (Miss., Tex., Ark.) which I think of as our recruiting region.
should have researched his MATH..55+77=132..no wonder we keep wining...we play with a 132% of the local and surronding states players

But the Cajuns must get out there and define themselves. And the Cajuns must define themselves positively. Forget the "we hate LSU" message.
Atleast one of them can think for himself.

Jealous big brother will always have delusions of granduer. Univ of La my arse. UL-L is a joke too. It is and will always be Univ of SW La or USL. (As UL-M will always be NE La Univ) The silly Univ of La- add town of your choice, needs to go. Most of the smaller 4 year La. schools need to be turned into junior colleges anyway. Keep LSU, Tech, USL, Tulane, Grambling and Southern. Everybody else should be JC's....

I am an LSU alum and absolutely love LSU. I live in Lafayette and actually audit ULL, and the people that work here are pathetic. They are so unprofessional and always give me a hard time because I went to LSU. It's amazing at how much hate they have for LSU, for absolutely no reason, but jealousy. I don't think people realize how much some ULL people HATE LSU. And I love when they use the excuse "well, if the state gave ULL as much money as they give LSU, then we'd have a better football program".. are you kidding me?? LSU's money comes from their dedicated fans.. anyways, I just had to get this out there! I love wearing purple and yellow over here with my front & rear LSU license plates :) GEAUX TIGERS!!!

Can you imagine the shock if the legislature agreed to provide ULL with the same money for the AD department as they give LSU. $0.
