Could have sworn it was played on Monday night.

And you said a Cat 5 storm passed through. A cat 5 storm did not pass through. A storm that was formerly a cat 5 passed through. You're an idiot.

I was asking a question about the title of your thread.

You are incorrect saying they made landfall as a cat 5

Yea but if he answers that factually, it ruins his entire premise

The issue is the field handling 4" of rain or more and if this is bad, hotel rooms will not be released to our fans and flights will be cancelled if you fly.

The word landfall is not in my title. Both hurricanes were CAT 5 storms, and this one is not

And you might have a valid point if LSU played football games in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico.

Well your lucky but hopefully the hotels wont be commandeered for emergency personnel and wont lose power where you are.
Good Luck!

Then how did BR do it after the Katrina evacuations? and Rita coming ashore on Fri. The day before the scheduled game?

According to NOAA, the closets the hurricane gets to Gainesville (which is south of Daytona Beach approx. 120 miles from Gainesville and then it turns directly into the Atlantic) is:

Hurricane MATTHEW (AL142016)
Advisory #31

48 hr Forecast
Valid at: 2:00 PM EDT Fri October 07, 2016
Location: 29.0 N, 80.8 W
Maximum Wind: 115 knots (130 mph)
Wind Gusts: 140 knots (160 mph)

Sorry Guys, 130 Miles an hour is not a Cat 5, but a 3.
"Based on the current size of Matthew, hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 35 miles from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 205 miles."

So Gainesville will get winds less than 74 MPH to 40 mph range according to the current projection.

And I remember living in BR when Lili came through at a CAT 2 and all the bars did was have hurricane drink specials.

Trust me, us here in FL are prepared for this, our building codes and we prepare. I do not think the U of F would endanger there own players and donors just to keep the game at the Swamp. Let's go beat them at their place so that there is no excuse for them.

Are you suggesting we don't know yet? After you just said on the last page "our situation was way worse"?

The threat of Hurricane Rita forced Saturday's SEC football showdown between No. 3 LSU and No. 11 Tennessee to be postponed until Monday night, SEC Commissioner Mike Slive said Thursday.

quote:

"After reviewing all of the information, I felt this was the best decision for the game. The safety of our student-athletes, coaches and fans is our priority," Slive said. "I understand this puts a burden on LSU and its administration. However, the travel safety issues necessitate this decision."

quote:

Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer said earlier Thursday that he did not think it was wise for his team to play Saturday. "We are not going to do anything that puts our athletes at risk," Fulmer said after practice.

quote:

"We've bent over backward to do everything we can to make this happen including going down the day of the game. Obviously, if they're sending people out of Louisiana, I don't know why we would be going in. My (university) president will not allow that to happen."

Hmmmm

quote:

SU officials, however, citing logistical and parking concerns that will come with having about 92,000 fans on campus during a school day, had lobbied to play the game Sunday.

But Slive overruled that, fearing the Baton Rouge area might not be ready in time for a Sunday game. "We have to have a lot of cooperation from everyone involved and our fans," LSU assistant athletics director Herb Vincent said. "We've never done something like this before."

The SEC literally moved the game.....

Seriously, are you this special?

That would be fine. Doesn't sound like that is even on the table at this point.

Doesn't change the fact that you're an idiot for this thread. Your logic is absolutely awful.
