You volunteered for the Army good deed. Now that you are in, do not volunteer for shite else. Unless you know what the hell you are volunteering for. Like the poster said above... stay low key.

Underhand do you not what getting smoked is, because it will take your mind off all things, including LSU football.

Thanks for your service. You and the other men and women in our military will always remain in my prayers.

except to try out for Ranger Regiment. It's been a long time since I went through but back then Ranger Regiment would ask each class going through at Benning for volunteers to try out at the end of basic... if that's something you think you might want.

Your DS will give you time off to watch the game. Be sure to tell him the first day so he can put you on the schedule.

They have so many guys coming in with guaranteed Option 40 contracts now that it's a lot harder to get orders to RIP or whatever they call it now right out of Basic.

Go Navy Beat Army...you boot motherfricker.
Enjoy having your arse whipped everyday for the next 13 weeks (or whatever the frick the Army does).
ETA: J/K. I can't welcome you into the Army, but I can wish you Godspeed. Keep you nose clean and your head down. Do your job. It only gets better.

Yeah I do. I believe the technical term is "post-traumatic stress disorder".
(Heck, I'm a Lieutenant Colonel now and I still tense up when I see a Round Brown - that was 23 years ago.)

The OP said he had a TV to watch at reception. I don't believe I saw a TV until I went to permanent duty station. Reception is no joke. The only free time you get during basic training is on Sunday mornings to go to church or you can sit around and read the paper and find out the LSU score. This was back in 1995 so they may have wussified basic nowadays for all I know. Anyway good luck to you...great decision you made.

Basic training for what? Prison? What kinda place makes you work your arse off and doesn't allow a damn tv? As if dedicating 3 hours of 3 months to watch a game is gonna raise your chances of getting shot in the arse?
Lol, only kidding! Many men and women have made the same decision that you did that allows a game to take place in the first place. Thanks to this decision, pussy's like me can sit around and watch football and get fat. With that said, mad respect for you, brother! Because of you, the Tigers will still be around to play football when you return!

Forget about watching the game - just ain't gonna happen! But you will be so busy that you will not notice.

Missing a few games ain't bad. The hard part is when you're down range.. That sucks! I went in during the '03 season and then spent the '05 season and the '08 season away. The '08 season was harder to bear being in Iraq...
God speed! What your doing is truly the best decision you can make. Never forget. Hooah!
