I ship to fort benning Georgia for basic training on Nov 1st . I can't believe I'm going to miss the biggest game of the year. I pray that someone at reception will know the score. Go Tigers!

They will probably stop training from 3:30-6:30 so the DI's can watch the game... So, there you geaux, enjoy the game.... And thanks for serving...

They're testing your commitment bro. Tell them you are already committed to LSU that date. They'll understand...

My friend I went 10 yrs ago this month an I asked a drill Sargent if he knew the score to the LSU Tulane game. And the a-hole smoked the shite out of me because he was a bama fan so be carefull.

At least it won't be hot. I missed the Earthquake Game because I was at Fort Leonard Wood - I was OSUT, so it wasn't "technically" basic for the Auburn game, but it might as well have been - total control, same barracks, same drill instructors.
Anyway, you're shipping on November 1st, and you have a holiday weekend right there at Veteran's Day - it's possible you might get stuck at reception station and have a day room with a television on the 5th (though I wouldn't necessarily count on it).
Good luck.
1. Don't be first.
2. Don't be last.
3. Don't do anything to draw attention to yourself. Once they know your name without having to look at your nametag - your comfortable time at BCT is over.

Call them and explain your situation. I'm sure they'll understand.

Hell he is gonna get his arse smoked more times than he can count anyway. If it goes anything like mine did he will be doing stuff towards the to get smoked on purpose. By that point its just a big game anyway and your in such good shape and ready to go home you don't give a shite about anything.

There were no TVs in the reception station when I went... but that was 22ys ago, a lot has changed since then to include the facilities at Fort Benning. Good luck!

Welcome to the brotherhood of soldiers. I missed the Super Bowl with Titans and Rams, during my boot camp. The first couple of weeks are really tough, so be prepared to be tested to the max mentally more than anything else.

Big props to you rabbit. I made the choice you did 21 years ago for probably alot of the same reasons. The difference was mine was in a time of peace ( gulf war I started while I was in AIT ) Your making your choice in a time of numerous wars. Don't know ya but proud as hell of ya man

WWL 870.
I have relatives at Ft. Benning but unfortunately, my cousin went to UNO and her military husband is all about UGa.

Thank you all, although I'm not sure getting smoked, or being away from home will keep my mind from wondering about the game. I may have to wait till my first snail mail comes in

You should be at the reception center for 5 to 7 days waiting on the rest of the guys in your unit to get there, get their uniforms, shots and hair cuts.
From what I remember ('87 was a long time ago), we had a tv set in our area so you should be able to catch the game. It's pretty lax until you are dropped off to your regular barracks.....then all hell breaks out and you shite your pants. LOL!
Thanks for your sacrifice. Thanks for your service.
Honestly, other than my 3 kids and beautiful wife, my service is the thing I take the most pride in. I hope the same for you.
