We're here and I can't wait for this game to start (after we paint the town purple and gold tonight, of course) and simply get that awful taste of the Florida game out of our mouth and as far away from us as possible ... I just want to get a win here in S.C. and get the hell outta town and basically assure ourselves of a 3-1 road record in an even year, which is an accomplishment in itself. The thing that I think we need to do in order to get that win:

1. Come out strong and don't fall behind early. If we get down 10+ points, it could be Florida all over agian with our confidence certainly low right now. I wouldn't mind seeing a little no-huddle from LSU early to throw them off and possibly get a quick score and lead.

2. Play better first-down defense. If we give up 5-8+ yards on first down, we're simply not going to be able to apply pressure the way that we would all like.

3. Spread the field out to where they CANNOT put 7 or 8 in the box. If we do that, we will run the ball with more consistency on USC than we did against Florida. Not to mention, if they do keep 7 or 8 in the box when we spread them out, Lee and the receivers MUST make them pay. If they stack the box the entire game, there is no way we're going to run the ball with any success unless we FORCE them to respect our passing game. I think running out of the spread will open up our running game a bit.

We do these things, we come away with a win in my opinion. For all those that think South Carolina is going to roll over for us just because we lost last week, you're dreaming, because South Carolina wants to win just as much as we do and needs this game just as much as we do. It's going to be a tough-fought game that I think LSU controls throughout, with some ups and downs throughout as well (we had a flat tire on the way, so expect at least one LSU turnover).

LSU 28,
USC 20 ... Let's get a win, come home and finish the season on a roll in the friendly confines of Tiger Stadium!

Have fun, dude. And if we have defense problems early in the game, just run down to the sidelines, rip the earphones off our DC's and coach 'em up!

Whoa now, Chill out there buddy. Everybody else is takin their little power nap after a 10hour drive (we left BR at 3am this morning), I'm just sittin here in the lobby talkin LSU's defense and the economy with Lynn Rollins, waiting on everyone to awake and start takin down some of these purple and gold jello-shots we brought to get juiced for the night ahead.

We'll be hittin downtown Columbia up all night ... don't you worry.

Gritty, solid performance for the Tigers. Defense was great, love the new package with 4 defensive ends to help us get pressure with the front four. Offense did as well as could be expected against one of the top defenses in the country. We ran up nearly 400 yards of total offense and could have had a lot more if we don't drop balls. I came in saying just get in there, get a win and get back home (I would've taken a 2-0 win). The way we played made me feel very optimistic about the direction of this football team. We're still going to have some growing pains this year, but I'm looking forward to watching this team continue to improve as the season progresses.

As far as Columbia and the stadium, there had to have been at least 10,000 or so Tiger fans in the stadium ... great turnout for us. I was surprised to see so many empty seats at Williams Brice, though, and also surprised to see so many USC fans leaving in the third quarter and beyond. With the lights of the fair in the background, it was pretty cool. I wasn't expecting it to be so cold, though ... frickin freezin in that endzone with the wind blowing directly in our faces, not to mention I feel colder when I get nervous.

I still can't believe they gave USC that TD at the end of the first half ... it was obvious to me without even the benefit of instant replay that he didn't get in, but I guess we shouldn't have thrown the pick and put ourself in that situation to begin with. Take that away and our defense gave up only 10 points against USC, nice!

We also went to the Saints game today ... obviously not much to say about that other than there were tons of Saints/LSU fans at the game ... overall a helluva fun weekend, headed back to BR tomorrow morning.
