I don't care is you sound like Ricky Ricardo with Turrets Syndrome. I still want to see that video.

Besides, Morgan Freeman could narrate a JJ highlight film and there would be no shortage of Rant Flames.

If you have a want to get a hard on for spring scrimmage stats, feel free to do so.

I've seen enough of spring scrimmages to know better.

I think since the OP based his original post on the spring game and said after watching it he thought Jefferson had improved the poster was pointing out that 27% was a pretty poor percentage spring game or not.

Probably true but I would bet that people werent walking around saying how much better and improved Mauck was after his bad spring game. JJ goes 4-14 and people talk about how much better he has gotten!

I don't see why people aren't taking this seriously.

If you compiled this yourself, I give you props. That's a lot of PBU and drops; if only 4 of thoses were caught/not broken up, people wouldn't be so harsh on his spring game. The fact is Jefferson can't help if his receiver drops a pass. He sort of can help the PBU if he was more accurate and put it in the right spots, but I think this list confirms what I felt from the Spring game. He's still not amazing but his leadership was there and the 4-15 wasn't all his fault.

It is never JJ's fault when he performs poorly. Just ask him or his fans they both will tell you and point fingers at the OC, Oline, RB's and WR's.

What leadership did u see out of JJ in the spring game??????????

Just like at aTm, he had control of the offense and looked like a leader.

And I'm sorry, but if there are 6 pass breakups and/or drops, that's not ALL JJ. You can't put the blame squarely on his shoulders at that many drops. Without reading again, wasn't it 4 drops and 2 breakups? 4 drops.. that's tough. With those 4 catches, he at least would've been over 50%.. which still isn't saying much. But scoffing at his 27% completion percentage without taking drops into consideration is unfair.

Because people aren't just looking at the stat line. Shocked face, OMG!!!11!!.

Jefferson had 3 perfect passes that were dropped IIRC. A slant to Reuben. A endzone fade to Reuben. A drag route while escaping the pocket to Mitch Joseph.

Another drop came from D.Lo. The pass was a little behind him but he had both hands and his stomach on the ball. This pass also was a checkdown. That's right, JJ actually went through his proggressions and made a check down to the TE in the flat underneath the coverage. OMG!!!1111one!!.
On 3rd down in the red zone late in the first, early second, we called an ISO play for RR. Trips left, RR right, HB left side of the gun IIRC. JJ avoided pressure, stepped up in the pocket, Simon had RR blanketed like a new born baby in December. JJ threw it into the first row. OMG, JJ saw it wasn't there, threw it away and preserved points!?!?!?.
How about the screen that broke down, and since the lineman were already upfield, he ate the play and got back to the LOS instead of throwing it anyway and getting a penalty for illegal receiver down field. OMG!!!11!. JJ made a smart decision :omg:

Things like that doesn't appear in the stats column. When people say they saw improvement, those are the things they are refering to FWIW.

If what you say is true, why post to me since I made myself pretty clear that Spring scrimmages hold little weight with me as to being any kinda of special measuring stick?

I would say the same if the guy was 12 for 12 with 5 TDs.

Anyway, stats are never the begin all, end all that some like to think. No coach worth a dang will evaluate a players worth to the success of his team simply on stats no matter how much us fans are eaten up by them. imo

They are but one of many tools good coaches, like the current LSU staff, use...nothing more and nothing less.

Seriously, I am hoping you put something like this out.

Or, if you can't (don't want to) include commentary, then I'd like to see you break down JJ's plays like this:

OK, so I just requested you to do a shite-ton of work for my reading pleasure. Its kind of a compliment...in a way.

How many drops did Lee and Mett have? How many breakups? I know Mett had a couple passes broken up by Simon as well.

I'll see. I have the first 6 passes finished already. I probably won't put the scrambles on. Just the passes.

I'll also see if i can write a script and have someone else do the commentary, since my lisp really takes away from the actual commentary.

Contrary to the experts here on the rant, I do agree that JJ showed some improvement. But he forced the ball into double coverage a few times and threw to receivers who were not open. Hopefully Kragthorpe is teaching JJ to find the open receiver. But this also brings up a key point for this offense - someone will need to take the coverage off Randle. We have a very inexperienced WR group and if we don't find a solid number 2 receiver, it will be another long year offensivley.

I was at the SG. Drove in from Slapout, Al. To me JJ is only a servicable QB. He will make a big play then miss 3 wide open recievers in a row. He just doesn't have All American capabilities. But miles was playing him cause he didn't have any one better. With Mettinger now in the fold.I can only hope he can take oPver when JJ falters especially after 3 drives in a row without a first down

You should put the scrambles. That was by far what JJ looked the best at and actually did show improvement imo. He looked much faster and more decisive than last year.

I have watched the Spring Game a few time and IMO, JJ still has the same problems. He did well the 1st drive, then reverted back to the same ole JJ. Even on the 1st drive where he did well, he didn't look off one target. He still hasn't learned how to look off defenders and work threw his progressions and when he does, he gets paranoid and looks confused. If Krags can improve JJ, he's the best OC ever. I look for Mett to start by game 5.
