I hate to say it but I am afraid neither one is the answer at QB for LSU.
They arent ready. They should be! But they arent!

So I have been hearing some less than flattering things about Jefferson recently.
such as?

Unfortunately, that won't fix the problems that I saw on Saturday with Jefferson. It appears to be more than a complexity issue with him, and that's really troubling.
I saw WR's dropping passes from both QB's and running the wrong routes. It's hard to get into a rhythm with that. Everything I've read JJ is a much better leader this year. Yall are going by facial expressions. I see frustration saying damn... catch the ball help me out.

I pointed this out his freshman year from the photos of the fall practices and got bashed endlessly by the Positigers. Some people just can't accept any reality that takes them out of their comfort zone. That said, he's still better than Jarret Lee.
Same here...I once said on here prior to last season that JJ will be more akin to Marcus Randall than Jamarcus Russell. I was bashed for about four pages. I also stated (maybe in another thread, cannot remember) that JJ would be like any other inexperienced QB in the SEC, he would look good at times and bad at times...that prediction came true.
However, I also stated on here last season that I thought Lee should get a chance situationally to see how the team responded to him...I was proven wrong about that and am man enough to admit it...I was proven wrong in the Bama game.
Here is the deal with Lee and it is very apparent, I believe. HE IS SCARED OF CONTACT. You cannot be a football player, even a QB and be scared to get hit. I really believe it is that simple and that it flows into every other aspect of his game. It affects his mental state while in the game and thus his decision making ability.
Unfortunately, there is really no way to overcome that problem.
JJ is our QB whether we like it or not. He is our best option. We want a fix that is all world and right now we do not have that.
Moreover, we do not currently have a coach that can develope QBs. I did not like Fisher, but the guy can develope QBs. I think there is a reason why our QB play dropped off drastically with Flynn...he was the last guy that spent a majority of his career under Fisher's coaching.

He is considering transfering haha just kidding

Such as he can't even complete a sentence let alone a pass. When I hear that the starting QB is not smarter than a 5th grader, it really worries me. I personally have been a big fan of Jefferson, and really want him to succeed. But hearing about his inability to develop and learn the play book is troubling to say the least.

What I saw was indecision and confusion. And I like JJ.

I read the same shite last year, and that we had the best OL Miles had ever had at LSU.

JJ seems confused at times IMO... which is why the coaches have said they have "dumbed down" the offense a little for him. why can't he make a read and get to a second option on a play?

your blind as a bat...Those guys in that locker room have to say that he is doing things to try and become a leader...but when its time to shine he folds like a cheap lawn chair....would you follow that guy?....thats what I thought...talk is cheap, the proof is in the pudding, he has to prove that he can do it to those guys, otherwise he's a fraud...he needs to let his play do the talking and keep his mouth shut...

I've been hearing since RP that we've just not had an experienced quarterback and that's why our production has fallen. There won't be any excuse to hang on to "the wizard" after next fall if we don't see any dramatic increase in offensive production. I'll say it again. We recruite top ten classes and are in the bottom 15 in offensive production. This is a schematic problem, not a talent problem. These guys being in their third years playing qb at LSU should be more developed than they've shown. The guys around them (offensive line) should be more developed than they've shown. The #1 dual threat qb in the nation has never thrown a pass, not one, in college. This comes down to coaching decisions, not 20 year old kids.

Guys, you are all forgetting...it was just a spring game. Calm down, they have LOTS of time to develop before the season. I know everyone's worried about wasting another season. I am too, but let's give them the benefit of the doubt until after we see what happens in Game 1.

The sack stat is just as relevant as the interception stat...

I agree. People just bitch to bitch. Like this is an NFL team. We can't do anything about the kids we have on the team. Why not support them instead of bashing the hell out of them everyday?
Posted on 3/29/10 at 9:34 am to SteveLSU35
because they aren't playing as well as we could if we went out there. don't you get it?
Posted on 3/29/10 at 9:40 am to Ray Ray Rodman
It's just a spring game and the 300 pound bullets were not allowed to hit the QBs. JJ is not afraid when the shite hits the fan and you can't coach that. But the biggest enemy he's got to face is "fear" of what they going to say if I'm not perfect - he's got to say frick-um, it 's a matter of fact want the fricking criticism, it's nothing but sound and weak air.

JJ's internal clock seems broken. He can't seem to get passes off in a timely fashion most of the time. I expect good things from Ford so maybe that will improve the passing.

So getting sacked and punting the ball changing the field position for 40 yards is the same as a INT?

We are in a tight spot at QB. Hopefully GC can dumb down the playbook enough for JJ to run the offense
This will only help if other SEC coaches dumb down their defenses.

I never thought of this, but it makes sense. Too bad Lee can't wear a green jersey real SEC games.
