You are an idiot for posting this. No one is really complaining about JJ. We know he has problems but its all coaching issues.

You are an idoit. Why the hell did anybody else call the timeout. He was told to spike it. I saw in the other thread where u said JJ wasn't smart enough to play qb i bet your coward bitch arse wouldnt have the balls to say that to his face.you are sounding like a racist. I don't throw that word out there but you are sounding just like one. Stop bieng ignorant and blaming JJ for letting the clock run out

that is the QBs job calling the timout - he is always within eyesight or earshot of the white hat....

the coaches do not trust him to audible - read into it what you will....

JJ wouldn't start anywhere else in the sec..

calling me racist is pretty absurd...

calling me coward bitch arse.. you wouldn't have balls to say this to my face...

JJ is an average quarterback that will NEVER take us to a championship. He has no feel for the clock, the situation (can't take a sack), pocket presence (leads to the horrible sack numbers). He can't pick up a second receiver. He does have talent, but not the necessary ingredients to be a championship quarterback. His lack of ability has exacerbated some poor offensive play calling, because the coaches seem to have no confidence in him.

He would after a redshirt year with a good QB coach and some garbage game time.

He's got talent, and what you apparently don't see is that he's fighting both the other team and his own coaches. They don't go with his strenghts, they hang him out there in his weakest areas.

He looks so confused all the time because the whole damn sideline is confused. How can you expect the kid to know what the hell is going on when there is no one telling him? Should he just instinctively be a top SEC caliber QB based on shite his high school coach taught him?

My message to JJ, step up in the pocket-step up in the pocket

Could not be more accurate. A great deal of LSU's problems would be solved in terms of sacks, if JJ would just step up in the pocket. Clearly, this is not our best line, but a QB has got to help them by stepping up in the pocket. That's why you create a pocket, to have the QB step up into it. If he bails on the pocket, he creates sacks, not prevents them. Having said this, I can't understand why this hasn't been taught to him better. Its not like its instinct, or an internal clock in his head, its simply after you drop back, if there is noone coming up the mioddle, step up.

JJ runs into the sacks. His football IQ will NEVER equal his talent so you are stuck with talent that does well once in a while against a smarter qb playing with less talent but making solid football decisions.

Its that simple and what LSU and others have been successful at is having a high IQ lesser talented guy back there that knows his place and gets the ball to all these TOP 5 recruits we have!!!

That is how it works, NO OTHER WAY. Other teams have great great qbs but jsut average talent around them and thats why the QB is made to look even better, he throws on every play!

If we have top 5 recruiting classes, WE DON'T NEED A SUPER ATHLETE BACK THERE RUNNING AROUND!

We need a smart football IQ "bus driver" to run our studs effectively.

And enough about racism, JJ is a great black athlete!!
SO what he's black though. He went to Destrehan and just like other high schools, many times they take their best ATHLETE and put him at QB so he has the ball in his hands on EVERY play. Many times this type of player fails at major college QB because his instincts were allways to run first to help his team out of trouble.
SEC qbs aren't wired that way cause it doesn't work.

Black, white, purple, green, clear, etc...YOU CANNOT WIN IN THE SEC RUNNING AROUND BACK THERE WITH A GREAT ATLETE TRYING TO PLAY QB.

That is why the "wildcat" is so succesful, it works ever so often, not every down!!!! There is a reason it's only used sporratically.

to all these people saying hes a sophomore and stuff, he should be a rs freshman. He was pretty much redshirted in the 2008 season but had to come in on crappy circumstances. not many schools in the sec start a rs freshman at qb. JJ can be a really good qb at lsu but they need to get a coach in there that can help him get smarter and better mechanics.

JJ had a few real nice passes (and a couple were dropped)...

...i like JJ's toughness !!...he knew he was going to get nailed on that TD pass to RR, but he made a good pass anyway...

One question you have to ask is why didn't Jefferson call a timeout after Ridley was down? You've got to think they have practiced the 2-minute offense before.

I know, it's ultimately the HC's responsibility, and I blame Miles for it, but at no time did I see JJ running to the ref to call timeout. We see it with other teams. What's the deal with LSU?

I have watched the game twice now - with barf bags at the ready - and have not seen JJ signal timeout after the pass to Ridley. However, maybe someone else saw what was going on with the sideline and JJ?

Sounds just like Brett Favre his first few years in the NFL.

Lord knows his stupidity knows no bounds, yet his sheer athletic ability has always allowed him to make up for it.

Just another dumb athlete whose great God given talent has allowed him to make it this far.

What did that time out accomplish?

There was 37 seconds left at the end of that play. Take 15 seconds, call the play and throw the ball. Then, if Tolliver makes the catch, we still have a time out to burn.

I'm not saying taking the TO there is the wrong call, but I can totally understand Jefferson waiting from an indication from the sideline whether or not to take the TO

The point is 17 seconds ticked off the clock until a timeout was called.

The question is, was the sidelines trying to call timeout and the referees didn't notice? If so, the QB always gets noticed at these times and should have been able to register the TO. However, I never saw the QB signaling TO. That's why I asked the question as to what responsibility lays on the QB's shoulders to call the timeout?

Thats assuming that Miles is telling the truth. Based on his clock management skills the last five years, I don't believe him. I think the sidelines didn't have a clue about what to do and let 17 seconds burn off the clock with calling a play or timeout.

Miles ran on the field at Alabama to call a timeout, so I don't want to hear that refs "didn't hear him." Its complete bullshite.

I'm so tired of you arm chair qbs talkin about how shitty a qb JJ is. He has 1 yr of exp. All you rantards act like he hasnt improved over the course of the season. You all want him taken out for a series or two. And bring in who? i know he doesnt have the best pocket awareness but when the hell does the oline give him a pocket. Yesturday ole miss rushed 3 and got to him in 1.4 seconds. We have absolutely no run game and the backer and dline pin thier ears back. You people are idiots if you cant see improvement from our qb position over the season.dumbass callin for garrett to start next yr. Ha ha. Yeah for the 3rd straight yr lets start a rookie in the sec. Brilliant. Now you little bitches go ahead and cus me all you want but jj will be a good qb and the only fanbase that cant see that is lsu fans. All i hear from other fanbases is how jj will be a stud with another yr. I would say he is a damn good first yr starter in the best defensive league in cfb. Grow up

Same as Lee last yr.He was a first yr QB with less experience than JJ. JJ's inability to read defenses, progressions, and throw down field has killed Tigers' offense. They dumbed the offense down and, he has improved.I hope he improves next year. QB takes more than physical tools.
If he doesn't improve next year, offense will struggle regardless of OC. As bad as Lee was crucified last year,Tiger offense was much more productive, with plays being run on time, with the same OC.
