Jones' comments seem to be pushing all of the blame on the players, this is going to end poorly.

"We're highly disappointed, certainly disappointed in these guys."

Losing by 30 to a 0-3 sec team is not fun to you?

Wait, he's seriously dumping on his own players? He is the coach aka "teacher" for these players, correct?

Not a good move on his part for saying that.

Yep, and he goes on to say we recruited these guys, they are talented enough and we just aren't getting "participation" (i.e. effort) night in and night out. Even when things are bad, throwing your players under the bus is not a good look.

Talk about lowered expectations

The last thing you want to happen is to fire a coach mid season with Joe Alleva as your AD.

While I can understand that stance, personally I think he's just trying another tactic to get them to actually play hard.

He certainly isnt lying by saying the team isn't playing hard. It is the absolute truth. Nothing has seemed to work. he put all the blame on himself after the Mississippi St game and nothing happened. The team still showed little effort. This is just the next attempt to get them to actually try and play defense.

And I'm not saying that because I support Johnny Jones, but he has to try something...

I've repeated this several times and will again. When you have something happen like happened last year, where your team for all intents and purposes, quits on you and you no longer command respect....and half the players returning were part of that...I can't possibly see how he could command respect from this years team.

And the play to this point certainly seems to show this.

Hey...for once he saying something blunt and honest. I frankly am sick and tired of his "silver lining" over inflated optimistic comments earlier in the year after games when it was clear to everyone else with an objective view that the team had major issues he needed to confront.

He's legit hoping to at least get to mediocre

quote:

We’re not getting that type of participation, I don’t think, night in and night out for every second, every play to be able to play at the highest level in this conference and where you need to be. You have to get that done.

Blaming the players again.

quote:

We didn’t step up to the free-throw line and make our free throws and get back down to the other end of the floor. That’s where we got in foul trouble

And again.

90% of this is on CJJ...but the players HAVE to shoulder blame, too.

They literally don't give a shite. There could be a multitude of reasons why they don't care, but they're getting a free education and free food and free room and board to TRY. Anyone who thinks this team is actually trying is high as a kite.

You have to fire CJJ so you can start building the program back up, but the players show little to no effort, either.
