bingo. It’s hilarious how clueless some are. I can count on 1 hand how many times Dale Brown has been to a game in the last 3 seasons.

I do know that Shaq has said he will never fund any NIL money because he resents today's players and thinks they have it too easy.

It also doesnt hurt to have a guy with over 2 decades of D1 head coach experience coming in just to be an assistant. He's not totally worthless as a coach, he made the tournament 3x at Texas Southern since going there and while he only made it once in 5 years here only his last year was a true disaster type year, the other 4 were all "Respectable", 3 of them just weren't quite good enough to get into the tournament but we finished 9-9 or better in the conference. He couldnt quite "elevate" LSU to where we should be but it's a far cry from the garbage we experienced in most of the last 4 years under McMahon being bottom of conference.

Exactly.

IMO, Jones gets too much criticism relative to other LSU HCs. Overall, he was better than Johnson and FAR better than McMahon. While he didn't have the one really good season Johnson had, he didn't have 3 below .500 SEC seasons like Johnson. Also, he only had one truly awful season. Compare that to McMahon who had 3 such seasons in 4 years.

If he were hired as HC I would be right there screaming with everyone else. But as one member of a multi-member coaching staff this isn't a bad hire

I know for a fact this is not a forced hire . Will wants the connection from the previous greatest era to join what he thinks will b a greater era. He has a spot for JJ to contribute . Read in to it what you will.

No Johnny Jones! Some have complained about Will Wade when he got caught giving money to players during his first stint with LSU, how many remember Johnny Jones gave the bag full of money to a LSU recruit for Dale Brown

Are you slow? First of all the things you complain about with him being a bag man are now a positive because, wait for it, that’s LEGAL NOW!!
And as others have already stated he’s not coming to actually coach but to do exactly what he excelled at. Ie a bag man

He’s not being rewarded you mouth breather. He’s being brought her for a specific purpose that he’s very good at

In a not so insignificant way LSU retooled its entire upper administration and athletic department to lure Wade back to LSU. I highly doubt he is being forced to do anything.

Nope Alt, these anti Wade idiots know everyone cheats, it's just the last shred of logical (in their warped minds) opposition to him coming back. Kinda like sticking their fingers in their ears and screaming lalalalala!!!!

This 100%. It’s sad and I feel naive for not realizing there were/are this many adult males that have the emotional maturity of a toddler

Read my post before it or read many of the posts before mine. It’s pretty obvious if you’re not retarded or in your case the slowfloretard of the sports boards.

Did well with LSU's boosters before raising money (now it's legal) and is a good recruiter, with strong connections in Texas and Louisiana prep/AAU scene.

All I can think is maybe a sort of firewall to protect against The Dale/Collis mafia.

Dale had a fallout fairly early with WW, in fact he had fallouts with Brady and Trent as well, and there's reasons for that, and they are pretty consistent reasons.

I'm not sure CJJ has a whole lot to offer other than that. Not sure he would be a great recruiter compared to a younger coach, his last tenure as the lead assistant under Dale ended with 4 really bad years to end Dale's tenure here.

But there may be some value in having someone to buffer the old guard and what little influence they might try to impart.

There are basketball boosters who still like CJJ, I know one of them really well. But that same booster really likes WW a lot as well. In fact most of those boosters who liked CJJ like WW also, I don't WW has any issues getting along with boosters.

I think good is probably about right, don't think he's great or for that matter every really was - Dale had guys on his staff over the years that were better, Johnny's getting older and I'm sure if WW wanted an Ace recruiter with local ties he could do just as well or better and with a younger guy.

I don't want to say CJJ brings nothing - experience is always good and he's a good guy WW may just like him, most folks do.

I would still make the case that this is a buffer from or maybe even an Olive branch to Dale. It got ugly pretty quick between WW and Dale and even though Dale and Collis have lost a great deal of their stroke, getting along is still better than not with Dale and his boys.
