There are enough elite ST coordinator's out there, that LSU could've got instead of trying to piece it together. I do like Bob Diaco, but this seems strange to me
Many major programs don't have a dedicated special teams coach. Alabama doesn't.
Hiring a former SEC defensive coordinator and also an FCS head coach should not be looked at as anything other than a huge win. Not to mention keeping Polian and putting him where he is most valuable.
There's no mystery to coaching special teams. It's just organization. The idea that a defensive coordinator can't do it is absurd.

Who works with the specialists?

They’re personal coaches if I had to guess.
You should know that most special teams coordinator’s aren’t exactly kicking gurus.

So they’re on their own? Guess that’s how it is in high school anyway. At least they get super baller facilities to ‘get it right’ in.

Plus an analyst can't "handle" special teams because he can't talk to the athletes on the field.
That rule has changed. The only thing analysts can’t do now is recruit on the road

This seems like Kelly is expecting House to move on sooner than later and is prepping for the upcoming vacancy.

become LSUs next Outside LBer's Coach.
Specialism, Adam Smith called it.
Does a college football team really need different coaches for outside and inside LBs?
Dang efficient?

I hope not. We could do much better at a replacement for DC when that happens.
Take it for what it’s worth, it’s a solid hire for a defensive analyst. That’s it.

Jancek credits Bradley Peveto as a mentor. Not sure if that is good or bad.

You're wrong! Cochran has been back as an analyst for some time now.

Lazy would not be interviewing anyone not even the guy you are hiring. That is lazy
Joe couldn't handle Tom Herman and his Agent, so he totally gave up and ran crying to O.
Didn't even bother to interview anybody except for Larry Fedora. (From what was reported)
P.J. Fleck was out there, available and hireable. He would have been a better option than Orgeron, but did not get an interview.
Yeah, I know. It's crying over spilled milk, but it still

SW "Doing Fine" (Did I do that correctly Pump Lumps and MA's?) except for the Wade Firing/McMahon Hiring, but the jury is still out on that one.......

What a shite hire
Replace a failed ST coach with someone that doesn't know shite about the unit and bring in another dailies ST pastime coach as analyst.

If there's one person who has their head further up their own arse than the Pirate, its Magician2 and his monosyllabic inner dialogue.
How either of you haven't perished from sticking your dick into a light socket, I'll never know. It's truly amazing.

Jancek joined Kelly's staff as a senior analyst last year, and brings decades of coordinator experience with him to the on-field staff. He previously headed defenses for Wayne State, Hillsdale College, Grand Valley State (under Kelly), Cincinnati, Tennessee, and Colorado State.
Diaco spent 2014-16 at UConn, and previously coordinated defenses for Kelly at Cincinnati and Notre Dame, in addition to Nebraska, Louisiana Tech and Purdue. Prior to that, he coordinated special teams for Western Illinois, Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan, and Virginia. He spent 2022 as the defensive line coach for the New Jersey Generals of the USFL.
Barf. Hope we're not seeing the beginnings of Kelly's version of the LSU BBQ Buddies.

That was an excellent move by Coach.
Allowing elite analysts to make each special team unit their own is brilliant. Jancek coordinates the ST effort.

Is this a good hire or not? How should we feel about this?

That moron Pirate King still thinks letting a convicted felon handle staff interviews and hires was a good idea.
