Keep in mind this was the Sugar Bowl after all of the NFL "beer throwing in the end zone" games.

If you have this year's media guide, page 84 has two photos of him in the old LSU uniform.

Miles talking to the media & large groups =/= talking to small groups / off the cuff. I really think he talks like a moron on purpose. I've spoken to him and heard him speak to small groups many times and he speaks like a normal person who can grasp complete sentences.
Not sure why he speaks the way he does to the media but it has to be a front.
