quote:If this were the case, they would have hired an attorney who specializes in university disciplinary proceedings, not one who specializes in NCAA eligibility issues. You don't "submit new information to the NCAA" for them to "reconsider" a school-level discipline issue.
This is looking more and more like an academic integrity issue which is handled entirely by the university's academic side and trumps any coach or athletic department employee/official.
If Emery was cheating or plagiarizing and got caught, then there is zero that the coaches can do. The university will follow their procedures, and that may include Emery losing status as a student or being eligible for the team.
He and his family are lawyering up to navigate the university's policies and find the loophole that allows him to return to good academic standing. That's my best guess based on what's come out in the past few days.
The NCAA does not investigate individual cases of academic misconduct by student-athletes. They only care about the school's response to these cases.

Will be interesting to see what the claims of the suit are. He clearly failed to earn the required credits in the classroom since they are saying "academically ineligible". I doubt he was in thermodynamics or multidimensional calculus. So, they are suing because their son earned failing grades for courses needed for a general studies degree?

I'm going to be EXTREMELY pissed if we find out this was Covid related, e.g. took a class online and NCAA didn't accept the hours because online.
