Burrow is probably the only one of the group you mention with NFL level presnap reads and progressions and decision making. I agree that Bert Jones is overlooked by our current fan base as the great but under utilized QB that he was.

Guess we will have to see what Joe does in the NFL...but I wasn’t talking about NFL success..I was talking about how previous LSU QBs would have fared under a Joe Brady style offense in COLLEGE.

Many of us thought Burrow was very good and capable of higher level performance. And we were justified in those thoughts. We thought Burrow would beat Rohan’s yardage record before we saw the RPO in play. There were indications... some fromRohan himself ... before the season for those not so blind or anti Orgeron. I will grant you... this performance to date is higher than even I .. an optimist and a Burrow fan expected.

Burrow if he does not get hurt will bump on 40 touchdown passes. Probably more.

We did? Why? You thought Burrow would set records in the same E offense from last year?

Well duh..of course it is. Many ex LSU QBs thrust into this offense would have ridiculous success.

Maybe because Rohan himself said HE thought Burrow would break his records after seeing the offense in early spring practices?

My question was..you thought Burrow would set records in the same E offense from last year? Stop lying.

I’d bet Rohan would think he would set unbreakable records if he had Joe Brady as OC. And he would..

I don't give a frick what your question was. Rohan had seen the offense and knew what was going to happen as long as E turned Joe loose.

Relax big guy...it’s ok..Brady has made your boy ...just like he would have made many previous LSU QBs...just like he will make Brennan. Take care

From Matt Moscona radio show in March:
Rohan's comments:
quote:

"I think Joe's going to make a huge step. I know what it feels like to be comfortable in the second year of an offense. I know what kind of frickin crap he went through this year just trying to get everything right. And he did a fantastic job.

I'm just picturing now his second year. He's had a whole year here. He's had a whole year with his receivers. And he's a smart guy. And he knows what he's doing.

Honestly. um. um. Who the hell's the offensive coordinator? Ensminger! If he lets that boy loose...Man. And if it goes the way I think it will go... I think Big Joe will break my passing yardage... I'm telling you!"

Yep..Rohan, Hodson, Jones etc etc are all jealous that Joe had Brady as OC...but Burrow is the first to be able to take advantage. Brennan will be the next. It’s like OU...next QB up.

To predict both were going to happen, along with the massive improvement from the rest of the offense, required a level of unbridled optimism that no one could logically muster.

it was easy to see that massive improvement from Burrow and the rest of the offense in 2018 to 2019 was going to happen. The offense was very inexperienced and/or young going into last season. But towards the end of the season anyone should have been able to see that offense was poised to take off in 2019.

I didn't expect this great of offense but clues were coming out in fall camp that the offense was going to be unlike anything we had ever seen here at LSU.

But everyone who was saying that since we had the same players in 2018 as in 2019 so the offense wouldn't be much better, and that Burrow was no better than Monds or Franks (because of "facts") and there were many who argued both these things, are just really dumb (when it comes to college football) or just let their dislike of the coaching staff blind them.

Jones is the only one of that group whose hands were really tied by his coach and didn't get to show his full potential. Hodson and Rohan were able to do pretty much everything any quarterback of their era could do, and likely everything their potential would allow. Both had great receivers as well.

Jones' potential was severely hamstrung. With a decent OC/HC combination, he wins the Heisman. Cholly Mac was platooning him instead.

You’re making my point ....their ERA..iE if those QBs were in this ERA under THIS system, they would put up ridiculous numbers..imo.

Yes Willie was one of the first to see it (and post on TD about it). Anyone looking closely enough at the offense of Oklahoma, Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson, etc would likely have seen a pretty good preview of what was coming to LSU for the '19 season.

Anyone who had viewed the available video on Burrow running the Spread/RPO would have had an even better idea.
