The D was a big part of the problem for him last year. He had Arkansas and Bama beat and the D let him down. Yes he made mistakes but 2007 D would have had his back.

tigerbait2284 - You talking about Lee? He didn't see a snap at Ark. last year.

yea ur right i was thinkin bout bama and another close sec game where we should have won. We lost so many last year they all run together. my bad. my point was in 2007 our D saved Flynn several times where he played bad in the first half but kept us in the game.

Lee didn't play a single snap in the Arky game. But yes, if our D was better JJ would've had his first SEC win.

Anyway, having Lee have a good second scrimmage, in the grand scheme of things, doesn't really mean a thing. I'm glad he's improving but there's still no way he starts in September. Remember, that green jersey makes a HUGE difference.

JL and JJ will both get plenty of chances to show what they can do. Only time will tell who finally wins the starting job.

I will very suprised if JJ can reproduce his bowl game success against the best defenses in the SEC.

It will take three QBs this year to succeed: JJ, JL, and Shepard.

Shepard will get some playing time much like Tebow his freshman year.

I hope JJ can give us a ball control offense, with JL offering the long ball threat, and Shepard should be dangerous down close in the red zone.

Arky---has been addressed.

Bama--are you kidding me? Lee GAVE them half of their points. It was one of the few games the D played pretty mediocre.

I am a supporter of Lee but come on.

The defense in the Bama game was some of the best defense I thought LSU played all year(which still wasnt great but atleast accpetable). 4 picks is alot for a defense to put up with and over come. The defense put Lee in a position to win the game twice, one with about 6 minutes left on about the LSU thirty yard line where Lee couldve marched the team down the field for a game winning field goal or TD, but Lee didnt complete a pass and went 0-3. Then the defense blocked the field goal giving Lee yet another chance in OT, but he threw the pick in the back of the endzone, and Bama got the ball at the 25 yard line. I mean what can you ask the D to do in that situation, block another field goal if they couldve kept JPW, Julio, and company out of the endzone.

I think Jarret Lee has always done well during practice. That is how he won the starting job last year.

No matter how well JL performs in practice, Miles should protect him and bring him in when JJ runs into problems.

LSU's clueless hater faction can't wait to attack JL.

Bama Beat? How easily you forget the overtime intercept straight to a defender, wasn't even close to throwing it to LaFell in the corner.

And my Gawd, please stop arguing the situation, the guy helped just about very opponent we played.

I think most all of us on this thread simply want LSU to win. JL did not play well last year, and that is an understatement. And, JJ provided us with the quarterback play that we needed. He's a good game manager. He may even turn out to be an exceptional quarterback. But, I will be very happy if he is a good game manager, like Herb Tyler, and Matt Flynn and Matt Maulk, who led our last two championship teams. These guys were very good. They aren't NFL starters, but we were, and are, proud they were here.

I'm getting old. Trust me, that doesn't make me any smarter. It just means I've made a few more mistakes that I can learn from. One such mistake, when I was much younger, was to booooo when a young quarterback (I thought of him as "Mr. Interception" came into the game. That was Bert Jones. He got better. And, yes, that is an understatement too. But, what I learned was to not be so quick to judge.

Having said that, I hope JL does well, but the job is JJ's to lose. Both represent my school. I pull for both.

Easy to look good in practice when you don't have the fear of being hit.
