Our basketball coach is now talking like an elementary basketball coach

That's all I've ever heard him do. Although, watching them tonight, they're not good but I have to agree. Feel bad for the guys.

It will be interesting to see how these players respond to a new coaching philosophy. It's so hard to tell what talent level is there because when you watch them play, they appear to lack on so many fundamentals such as shooting, rebounding, passing, defense.

Unreal. At this point, it's almost insulting. They've now lost 9 in a row, soon to be 10.

I can't follow why this hasn't been addressed by Alleva. It's crazy. Wait until they lose them all then say, "Well, hmmm, maybe we should check into the basketball program."

I really feel for the players. It really isn't fair to them. LSU is seldom in the same talks as Kentucky, Louisville, UNC, Duke, Gonzaga, etc but geez, to drop every freaking game?

It falls back onto the head coach's shoulders. I don't think JJ is a jerk or anything but geez, enough is enough.

Has anyone suggested to Johnny that passing the ball around the perimeter with all four guys (outside the perimeter) just standing in one place, passing, catching and passing while one guy stands in the middle until the shot clock runs out and whoever has the ball has to either jack up a bad shot or turn the ball over in an effort to drive to the rim isn't a legitimate basketball offense?

It's one thing if you devote yourself to running the Princeton offense (which involves far more spacing ad well as other nuances), but this isn't that, or any other basketball scheme or strategy.

It just amazes me how a man who has so much experience as a player and coach knows so little about the game of basketball.

No screening away from the ball, no motion... No semblance of anything coherent.

If you as a coach have decided your team can't execute an offense --- any offense, then play press and transition for 40 minutes and let the chips fall where they may.

And this critique doesn't even attempt to address the defense, or lack therof.

Alleva is such a sackless twat that he's probably too scared to can Johnny. There was enough support to oust Miles but the 3 people that give a shite about LSU hoops (dale, collis, caeser) might just raise enough hell that Alleva's own job could come into question.

I think joe lets him walk dead until the end of the season then allows him to Trent Johnson his way out of town. Just wonder if there's another TCU fairy godmother out there.

It was for Dale. Who do you think JJ learned from?

Problem is, CBB is not the same game it was 35 years ago.

And the frustrating thing is that has not always been the case, and if nothing else that should be a given...it has not under CJJ.

I will give it to Mays, I think he's the one guy on the team who it seems to me without question busts it every minute out there. Yeah sometimes he can be a bit out of control but he gives it.

Last year it was Blakeney who was busting it when everyone else seemed to have quit at the end of the year. No he seems too often to be disengaged. How long under CJJ before the frosh like Mays and Sims become disengaged in this toxic culture?

Trent had the 'argument' of nearly taking LSU out of the 2 year doldrum along with some good history from other schools. Johnny has nothing to sell to anybody.

I wonder if at the end of the season, he will give out awards to all the players, so he does not hurt their feelings!!

Make Shaq coach this team the rest of the season and when he fails, everyone including the one who pushed for jj the hardest will realize what lack of depth we have down low.

All you can do is try to do your best. Americans put way too much emphasis on "winning". We all deserve a medal at times just for showing up.
