Before any facts came out in the JJ incident many fans wanted him booted correct? Wing has not received the same treatment. I don't think he should either b/c we don't know all the facts.
1) I recall people wanting him suspended if charges were brought. Charges were brought, then Miles suspended him. Don't see a problem there.
I agree that BRPD appears to have given JJ a raw deal, but it happened. That doesn't make him a hero deserving of a standing ovation. He is still going on trial for battery after all.
2) I'm not overly familiar with the Wing incident. Was he arrested and/or charged with anything?

If it wasn't, then that is a testament that the same "closely scrutinized Grand Jury" found there was not even enough evidence that he kicked anyone lying on the ground to even consider giving the prosecution a chance to make the argument in trial. That's just as close to innocent of the original charge as you or I are.
A closely scrutinized Grand Jury decided there was enough evidence against him (kicking someone laying on the ground) to warrant a trial

I personally will not hive him a big ovation because he was charged with a crime. I will not be cheering for that. I also think he should stay on the bench. Not because he's black, but because he is not a good QB.
Put your race card away. It just sets black people back when it gets used for ev.. er.. y.. thing
Couldn't have stated it any better!

Really? I don't think we need to be kissing his arse. If anyone needs an ovation, it's our backup QB that got is through one hell of a September and managed to keep his self out of trouble.
But like they say, "the squeaky wheel gets the grease"

try not booing at all. send Les an email or something.
That would require not hiding in a crowd.

As a father, would you give your child a standing ovation after being indicted for a crime?

There were at least 15 posters that said they wanted him incarcerated without any evidence.

Well I'd say they make up a very small minority. Even for here. And they're dumb.
I guess I should have said most instead of leaving my post open to this kind of response. Glad I never considered law school.

I believe you mean STARTING QB.

No he shouldn't. Just because a charge was knocked down to a lessor charge doesn't mean he didn't do anything wrong or stupid, doesn't mean he wasn't where he should have been on that night, doesn't mean he didn't let this team and coaches down, doesn't mean he didn't put his team in a tough spot. All it means is he is back from a suspension that he brought on himself.
If you want to cheer somebody loudly when he comes in, cheer JL. He has played great, been there for his team and handled himself with a lot of class. And he brings this team back to Tiger Stadium after a tough road schedule, ranked #1 in the nation. Cheer that guy and that team. Guys coming off suspension or back from drug rehab can get the second chance but they are not a hero and don't deserve to be treated as such. I'm not saying boo him at all. But the guy who deserves the cheers and standing O is Lee.

Actually I remember on the rant friday posters were demanding punishments/suspensions just because they skipped curfew. Then those fans crawfished when it came out it was a team tradition. Then it became well still he is our starting QB and even if he wasn't in the fight he should be punished/suspended for being there and on and on. Some people took the stance you have above but others wanted him dealt with immediately.

Ive never stated he should get a standing ovation. I think it would be pretty cool if he did get one and would be a special moment in TS but it won't happen. I just don't think he should get boos. Lets face it the ones who would be would not be doing it because of the fight it would be because they think he sucks and don't want him on the field.

I think he received a summons. I don't know if that is the same as being arrested? Also read the guy he beat up filed for a restraining order against him.

Quit trying to make this into a race thing. It isn't.
The Wing "incident" and the JJ "incident" are apples and oranges.

Agreed, but I have seen a generalized statement on almost every page of every thread the last 2 days.

Did I say anything about race? No you are suggesting that.
To me its about people hating JJ and not knowing about Wing. But they take a moral stance that what JJ did was so wrong and when it comes out that Wing has been accused of the same thing there is no uproar. Which is pretty much the definition of being a hypocrite.

You ain't lying about that. Of course, we all had to see it coming after JJ's reinstatement. At least it's providing entertainment.
Posted on 9/30/11 at 9:53 am to LNCHBOX
No, I mean backup QB. Jefferson was our starting QB until he found trouble/allowed trouble to find him.
