Well a lot of that is bc blacks don't need to be learning about white history (or whatever those ignorant fricks were saying earlier)

Anyone on here bashing anybody obviously places college athletics and sports above american history.

It's frickin pathetic that this thread is 11 pages. I really hate our fanbase sometimes.

BigEdLSU, your comments have certainly been racist.
I truly hope JJ succeeds tremendously this year at LSU, but I would bet my house he has no fricking clue who George Washington Carver is. There is no white or black history. It is all history. If he doesn't know who Thomas Jefferson is after being told it was a "Jefferson", then he does not know history. That does not impede his ability to play football for LSU, but it certainly is troubling for me to know since I want the players to succeed on and off the field.
This entire thread would be 1 page if the JJ-apologist would have simply agreed that it was embarrassing, but that it does not affect his ability to play football this season. Also, the JJ bashers could have kept their questionable post to themselves as well. Instead, racist posters like BigEd and over-the-top posters like Lsuman took this entire thread in a hateful direction.

Well let's see I have a degree in History and teach Anerican History, I'd say I care about it a little more than college athletics. But don't let those facts get in the way of your assumptions.

I don't care how many ways you can cut this and/or justify it - that was flat out embarassing.
If Auburn, Bama, Florida, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Tenn, UGA, anybody had a qb that did that, I'd be laughing my arse off at it. And so would everybody else.

This is not that big of a deal. WOW.
Okay, I wish he would have known who Jefferson was, too, but face it: Jefferson went to a public school in the greater NOLA area. Thomas Jefferson, thanks to the ACLU's large hand in educational portrayal and curriculum, was a wealthy Virginia man who slept with his lighter-skinned slaves and traded slaves. Public schools do not push Thomas Jefferson like they do Martin L Ling or Abraham Lincoln. We live in a politically correct age in education (albeit an absurd one) and Thomas Jefferson is not part of that pc curriculum. People can say what they want abouut kids not knowing history and that is certainly true. Nevertheless, Hughlin Mifflin textbooks and a liberal lawyered up school system are not going to make much of a deal about knowing anything about Jefferson other than he was one of the "founding fathers". I would bet that 50 more LSU players wouldn't know who he was either.

Learned yesterday that Thomas Jefferson had a mild form of Autism called Asperger's Disorder...bet not many people know that.
So does Bill Gates.
Not sure why anybody is surprised by JJ's response. Honestly...I would have been kind of surprised if he had gotten it right.
Pretty sad

<<<not surprised, just embarassed bc it was on ESPN for all to see
But you're absolutely right about not being surprised. I've always thought that JJ was not the type to pick up on things quickly and think on the fly. As trivial as this little "game" incident was, I don't think it was that JJ doesn't know who Thomas Jefferson is. I think that because he had the game thrown on him and he had to react fast and think real quick, he just threw out the name George b/c he was still kind of confused and to him the picture looked kind of like George Washington.
Do we not see the same exact thing from him under center when he takes the snap and the other team's defense throws a new look at him while covering all the primary receivers?

but George Jefferson is a character from a popular black show in the 70's.
apparently he doesn't know black history either
Here's what he said on his Twitter page: I looked at the thing for a quick sec n I saw white hair n I was lik that's George but I forgot about Thomas.
Side note: Sherman Hemsley(who played George Jefferson) didn't have white hair during the show and doesn't have white hair today.

Embarrassing, but not surprizing in the least. What you see is what you get.

And the name of the game was "Name that Jefferson", not "Name that President".

I'm a public school teacher and your post is so full of ignorance it made me laugh. Thanks.

It's funny but I won't bash the kid. Jordan doesn't strike me as a kid who's very comfortable in front of the camera. Im sure he was very nervous, no biggie to me.

Congratulations. I guess that makes you an expert on everything.
If you deny that Thomas Jefferson is largely ignored in public schools, you're deserving of your alias name.

It's made its way to EDSBS. LINK
It'll be viral by tomorrow. Whether it was his nerves, or he had a senior moment (stupid pun), or he really didn't know the answer, F espn for the pop quiz.
