I think jim in his old age...and what with the sauce he's sippin on in the press box, its time for him to go. I do love hearing him on the radio but he's past his prime. It'll be a sad for LSU faithful who grew up listening to him...but every day must have its dawn...and its midnight for jim.

Is Hawthorne perfect ?
No, but neither is anyone else.
I rather listen to someone with his own personality.
Some of you would have been trying to replace Harry Caray ....

I'm older and I think he sucks too. Don't care how much he loves LSU, he is embarassing. I would rather have Jim Henderson/Hokie Gajan.

old timers always think that young people dont like something or someone because of its ages. NEWSFLASH: if it sucks it sucks and jim hawthorne sucks. Do your job right or get fired. If Lesticles sucked as bad at his job as bad as jim hawthorne I would have called for his head 3 years ago.

all you need to know about hawthorne, find the clip of mario stephenson returnig the blocked fg vs arizona state in 05
the call is basically this- "there's the kick, its blocked. (long silence), touchdown LSU"
no who had the ball, no counting down the yards, no info at all

I hopped off the Hawthorne bandwagon when he said Jack Hunt was the one who caught the ball on the Blue Grass Miracle play. Not to mention the other 4000 dumb mistakes he makes each year.

Hannagriff probably inherits baseball one day. Basketball: perhaps the guy that does the women's sports. He is pretty decent.

Anybody on this planet with radio experience can do a better job than him. Plus, off all the things people complain about on this board, this is actually a legitimate thing to bitch about. Not everyone can watch the game live or on tv.

By your logic, if I hire someone to paint my house and he does a shitty job, the appropriate response would be you couldn't do better so STFU.

Fact is Hawthorne sucks. Love his voice but his announcing has gone to crap, and his negativity has put him over the edge for me. Let him "retire" now and we can all remember him fondly for his work with LSU.

Agreed...this topic is kicked around a lot, and I think it came up today because a ton of people listened to the game on the radio. No announcer will ever please everyone. It is a fact of life.
