if everyone thinks JJ would have or has improved this year but wont get to show it because LEE has emerged, then he needs to redshirt and come back next year and compete with the heir apparent in METT.
If he has improved than a fifth year senior should be able to beat our a junior who hasn't taken a meniful Sec D1 snap yet this year.
My take Mett would destroy JJ next year if they did compete for the starting job.

So glad I didn't see this until this morning. I would have lost sleep knowing you think I'm stupid. After all, your football knowledge fully eclipses mine. I'm sure you would be glad to explain that to me in detail again.
I will say, you obviously spent more time on your "JL sucked against Oregon, let me count the ways" thread than most of of his detractors spend. Amazingly, most of them have also disappeared as the offense continues to click like nothing we have seen since Flynn left, other than the occasional sales pitch that it was all Crowton and that JJ would be doing all the same things.
That's ok, crow is not a tasty dish. We understand.

Doh!
So many of us here could see this a year ago. Les refused to give Lee his deserved chance. Toaken appearances which lead to 2 wins still didn't cut it for Les. Anyone that knows the game could see Lee had the raw talent - just needed to be tapped.
We should have won the NC last year.

Some of you would rather argue than see the truth.
Lee has, of course, performed very well this year. I think somewhere between halftime of the first game and the third game, he turned a corner and became a more complete QB than he has ever been before. I hope he continues to improve because the most difficult opponents are still in front of us.
We have yet to see how the offense performs under intense pressure like they will see from Bama and maybe UF, and that includes the QB, and this has been one of his weaknesses since coming to LSU. He is going to have to stand in there and throw while taking a hit to the mouth before it is over, and I hope he is up to it. Saban will bring the house down on him to test his mettle - we all know it, so I hope he has improved as much in this regard as we have seen so far in the rest of his play
The offense is clicking very efficiently - Lee is a big part of that. If Jefferson gets to come back and play, I hope we see a similar level of improvement from him. If we do, then there will be no stopping our beloved Tigers in this campaign.

He'll come back, but won't play. Mett will play before Jefferson. At least JJ will get a ring.

While I agree, Lee has played well against Florida in the past. And in 08, while throwing 3 picks against Bama, he also contributed to putting points on board.
I think he is ready for the challenge.

I also hope so. I will certainly be yelling my arse off for all of them!

No doubt.
What I liked most about Saturday's performance- it appeared to me, that mechanically, that was the best game Lee has had this season. Footwork was better.
I think he is settling in, and I assume the coaches are growing confident in him.
I expect him to throw it around a bit Saturday.

uh, he was spot on. Your pass by pass dissection of Lees inability to hit the WRs 'in stride' in the Oregon game has been blown up by Lees ability to complete passes.
NWSt - 90%
Moo St - 78%
WVa - 57%
You shouldnt have put yourself out there. The WRs were dropping catchable balls. Other than RS last week, Lee is atill hitting the WRs. Its just a timing thing between them right now.
Yet you disagreed strongly then. And call him stupid now.

quote:Nobody will argue that Bray and Murray are not the best 2 QB's in the SEC. . .
What's his argument?
He's behind Chris Relf in yardage.
He's basically fringe top 5 in every stat...
Tyler Bray is the best QB in the SEC.
. . .but Lee is playing better, and against better competition. He has only faced one legit defense so far (and La Tech managed to score more points on them).
As it stands right now, Lee is playing the best football of any QB in the SEC. If he continues to play better than everyone else all season long, it will be clear that he is the best in the SEC.
It is a loooong season, though, and we haven't arrived at the tough part of our schedule.
I have no problem with what Palmer said. They are paid to be reactionary. He is playing the best right now.

Well,,,at least he will not be thinking run on every pass play called..

The fact that aren't intelligible enough to discern the difference between someone criticizing a player for average to below average play, and accusing them of being some moron who simply prefers one player over the other to try and make themselves seem right at the cost of the quality of the team is truly rantardriffic.

Lee has played well since the Oregon game. I have no problem saying this.

A little.

His ball placement still leaves a lot to be desired.

Anyone who thinks I want Jarrett Lee to fail is plainly stupid.

Now this is a little picky, wouldn't you say?
Consideing in the past it has been a struggle to comnplete passes, period.

I asked how he quantified this.
Statistically, Lee's numbers are about middle of the road. Competition wise, he probably has played the toughest slate. I'm really happy he's doing well.
People are wayyyyy too sensitive about Jarrett on this site (I don't include you in that accusation).

Probably so. The ball is obviously getting close enough for guys to catch.
This whole thing has been blown out of proportion. My picture post had some negative undertones that people tried to run with, but really it was just a reaction to all the people saying "Lee played amazing against Oregon!" (which he did not).

I'm really happy about our offense for several reasons:
1) Competent, coherent scheme and playcalling.
2) The steady improvement and raised confidence of Jarrett Lee and thus development of our passing game.
3) The development of Beckham Jr.
4) Overall success in the redzone.
5) Cutting out needless delay of game penalties.
6) Lack of turnovers.

Tiger fans should be ecstatic with Lee's play so far this year IMO. I'm sure some people predicted he would be this good, but I don't think most people had seen anything to make them believe it.

Just saw this.
His competition has been meek to this point, but putting together what he did late last year, with his dominance this year, I think it's pretty impressive.
Florida has a young secondary, but you can't fault Bray for the competition he's played. He's put the beat down on them and that's all you can ask.
I like the way he throws the ball, he's been accurate and productive and he's got the highest QB rating in the SEC.
